SOURCE: jl audio w6 surround repair

If you're willing to do the repair yourself, there is an Internet site - Simply Speakers -that sells repair kits for speakers ,including speaker surrounds.

I did two 10" drivers and it worked 100%. ..

SOURCE: how 2 wire 3 jl audio w6 v2

Hello mikey4569mky,

Unless your amp is stable below 1 ohm, there's really only one wiring solution. And that is to series the voice coils making each sub 8 ohms, then parallel all 3 subs to the amp for a 2.67 ohm load. If you parallel the voice coils and then parallel the subs, the impedance will be 0.67 ohms, much too low for most amps.

You could parallel the voice coils and then series the subs for a 6 ohm load, but the amp won't put as many watts into a 6 ohm load. Most are optimized for 4 ohms or 2 ohms. And it's not good to run subs in series anyway.

Here's the wiring diagram.

Hope this helps.

JL Audio 1000/1 v2 distortion problem

Make sure all your connections are tight , really tight . Check ground , make sure it's to clean shiney metal. Three subs are going to have a low ohm load if paralleled . These amps are not 1 ohm stable ,if below 1.5 ohm's you will have problems. They need to be series paralleled to raise the ohm load. These amps put out the same power from 4 to 1.5 ohms.

Can you run a 8 gauge power wire to a jl audio 1000/1 amp and not have problems even though jl reccommends 4 gauge power wire?

Hi, if you're going to run a smaller wire, you also need to use a smaller fuse. A 50 amp fuse is needed for 8 gage wire. The fuse is there to keep the wire insulation from melting, which is what will happen if you run too much power thru the wire. If you don't plan to turn the amp up too high, this may work fine, but I would test it first with a 50 amp fuse before installing. You will need all of the speakers hooked up and the gain set to max to test the power draw. See the following link on wire sizing for more info: http://www.bcae1.com/wire.htm

Can you push a w6 with a 1500 phantom boss amp?

I can assume that phantom 1500 is a 1500 watt amp? but still the amp will have more than enough power to push a w6, w7,and even in pairs. Single w6 can handle 600 watts rms, thus you will need to turn the gain all the way down so that the speaker won't over powered and that can lead to breaking the sub.

Have a JL audio slash 500 that isnt putting out any audio... i know the sub is fine. but i noticed the RCA inputs are loose and dont hold the cables very tight.. is this my problem and what can i do to...

Yes it possible that the inputs have been damaged on the circuit board of the amp. If the amp has hi level inputs you could try running a speaker wire input to it and see if it works. You might try another pair of rca cables to.

Try to install 3 12w3d6 subwoofers connecting 3 sub together to put them in box

You need to wire them according to the limitations of your amp you can pull a 1 ohm overall load just by connecting all of your coils in parallel- or you can get an overall load of 4 ohms by wiring each sub individually in a series configuration which will yield a 12 ohm load per sub -and then wire the 3 sets in parallel which will bring your ohms back down to 4. You can do a lot with that many coils it depends on your amp really-ideally a 1 ohm stable class d mono amp that is 1000-1500 watts rms would knock the **** outta those things JL is the good stuff.

Who to wire JL audio 12w6 to its max

Hello shermalestuc,

The JL Audio 12w6 v2-D4 has dual 4 ohm voice coils that can be wired for either a final load to the amp of 2 ohms (parallel) or 8 ohms (series).

If your amp is 2 ohm stable, the best power solution for a single sub is to use the parallel configuration, both positives and both negatives together and then to the amp.
