Can't format a flash (thumb USB) Drive on my MacBook Pro. Image (pictures) Data is still there, but many music files are corrupt. Can't delete the files and wipe the thumb drive clean, returning it to PC formatting so it will mount on a PC machine. Apple's DiskFirstAid says it can't repair the drive.. Many thanks in advance! Tom

Download Partition Wizard for mac bootable version and burn it to a dvd. Now, put the dvd in and turn off the computer, now put the usb drive in. Start the computer and boot from dvd drive Partition Wizard will boot up, left click on the usb drive and of the left side click format, now up top left click apply. Wait until it's done, now your usb drive is blank.

SOURCE: USB flash drive wipe out

I went to the Sandisk website and they actually have a bunch of how-to videos on there that will help you out with your problem: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1459 As for getting your information back, you would need special recovery software in order to do that. Here is a link that might be able to help you with that: http://www.download.com/VirtualLab/3000-2248_4-10642058.html

SOURCE: My 8gb micro cruzer flash drive has been unformatted.

i)let me suggest i ur able the flash drive icon when you go in desktop or my computer then right click on that drive and click the option format and follow instructions, if you are able to format successfully, then no worries if formatting is not done.....

ii) then try to keep your windows'xp or vista cd in the cd tray and restrat system and follow the procedure formating system(i'm not saying to install or reloading a pc), when u reach a position where u see all the partition(like c, d ,e drive ... with memories), u will also see the flash drive partition along with hard-disk partion separately...

now click on the flash drive partition and press the button D to delete partition and follow instruction after do this , press C to create partition and u will see that a letter(e, f..) will be given to our flash drive....
now quit xp (by pressing ESC, donot proceed loading XP or vista) and now restart system and i think ur flash drive will work.....

If you format the drive you will destroy all the files on them. There is software that will recover thumb drive data. Just google usb drive file recovery and you'll find several.

My memory card shows me the folders as .exe files, also i cant access to them, how can i solve this problem?

The file system has become corrupt and unreadable, or at least a section of it. If you can't reformat it then it's likely dying or dead. At least you should be able to recover some of your data however...

I am having one 4gb pendrive its not opening. now im inserting my pc please recover it.

Don't be panic. you can try some data recovery software. You can see
http://www.asoftech.com/adr/index.html
It tells the steps how to perform data recovery.

If above does not work, you may have to format the pen drive (use quick format), and then use above mentioned software to scan again the pen drive and recover your files.

I put it the 4GB SanDisk Memory Stick PRO Duo. Computer says that the "file or directory is corrupted and unreadable" How do I fix the memory stick to access my pictures?

Causes of file corruption:
1. Taking pictures using a camera that is running low on batteries.
2. Removing the card from the device during a read or write operation.
3. Mishandling and subjecting the card to extreme conditions.

For functional memory cards and flash drives
If your memory card or flash drive is still functional, you can try using a data recovery program. There is a high probability that your data can be recovered after you get an error while using the card, accidentally format it or delete files. SanDisk recommends using Rescue Pro and Rescue Pro Deluxe developed and sold by LC Technology. LC Technology specializes in SanDisk products and these programs are very reasonably priced.

www.lc-tech.com

You can download a demo version of Rescue Pro and Rescue Pro Deluxe. These demo versions will show you what files can be recovered and provide a preview of the files for some common picture file types. The demo versions will require purchase of a license key to enable the feature to save the files. This is an excellent way to see if the program will work before you purchase and LC Technologies is readily available to assist you with this program.

Here is a link to download LC Technology Rescue Pro Demos.

After you recover your data, you can reformat your memory card or flash drive and use it again.

I could n't access my files in my pendrive JF V30

Files on a flash drive can be corrupted if it is not removed from the USB port properly.
Before removing the flash drive click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon and then click on the flash drive you want to remove and then remove the flash drive when the computer message says it is Safe to remove.
To restore the flash drive you need to format the flash drive, but you will lose the data stored on the flash drive.
If you need the data on the flash drive these WEB sites may help: -

Flash drive failure

You need to format your drives. Even though you delete files on them a small amount of data remains each time. After so long the data builds up and clogs the drive.

Insert a USB with a problem
Go applications, Disk utility
open disk utility, then you should see the USB disk in the utility screen. click on then click format. It will kill all data on the USB and make it usable again.
