Greetings!
How many years is your ups working? UPS is usually run by a battery, some of them are disposable and needs replacement. If it does not charge anymore it needs replacement of battery.
Thanks.

Hi,

After you replaced the batteries did you perform a manual battery test?

If not do so.

Did your UPS display "Battery disconnected" or did it display "Battery Failure"? If it was "Battery Failure", for some reason the Powerware 9120 will take almost 18 hours after plugging in to power after battery replacement to correct the Battery Failure indication. Charger has to charge up the batteries, followed by an automatic battery test by the UPS. If the indication was "Battery Disconnected", you will need to check the internal fuses to see if they are blown. If the UPS keeps blowing fuses, it will require a board repair.

Hi. I have a powerware ups 9120 3va and my external pack of batteries is swelling up and it's the second batch of batteries I replaced. What could be the problem

Sounds like it is not regulating the voltage and current charging the batteries.
Consult a service manual to look for a repair method.

I have a powerware 9120 6000kva . I replaced all 20 batteries, but after 20 hours its displaying charge failure. What can I do?

You can check the battery fuse or the charging fuse. If it's more then that it's going to be a very costly fix.

We had a power outage for about 45 minutes a few days ago. Ever since then the Powerware 3110 has been beeping. I turned it off and left it plugged in overnight and when I turned it back on the beeping...

This could be several things, fortunately the device should actually be helping you to diagnose the issue. There are different beeps for different issues. They are as follows:

1 Beep Every 5 Seconds = Power Outage\Loose Plug Connection\Tripped Circuit Breaker\Power Cord Damage or Failure

2 Beeps Every 5 Seconds = Low Battery Alarm

3 Beeps Every 5 Seconds = Battery Needs Charging\Service\Replacement

3 Beeps Every 5 Minutes = The Battery is discharged and battery power is unavailable (If this continues battery replacement may be necessary)

1 Beep Ever 1/2 Second = Power Requirements exceed the UPS Capacity (remove some equipment to lighten the load on the unit)

Continuous Beep = Short Circuit / Input Voltage out of Range / UPS Fault (Likely replacement of entire unit)

That should help diagnose the actual issue. If it turns out the battery needs to be replaced they can be found online for around $20. A simple google search for Powerware 3110 Battery should return what you're after. Good luck!

Battery Packs for Powerware 9355 UPS

The Batts can be charged externally, then refitted, usually I extend the DC cables so I can work with the batt outside the unit. This is ONLY to be done if you understand the risk and what may happen if you get it wrong.

Batts are always live and can cause fire/explosion/severe burns if shorted!
IF YOU ARE NOT SURE THEN GET SOME EXPERIENCED HELP!

OK so the UPS will not normally recognise a very low batt pack, that is the reason you can not start the test, this test will back of the rectifier so the batt pack takes the load for a short period.

If the batt pack is out of range then this will make the load go off, so the UPS is designed not to allow the test, unless the batt is at the right level.

If you can get the batt pack up close to normal then the unit will recharge it to full.,Wait until it is fully charged before testing.
If this is sucessful the cyle the batt a few times allowing it to reach around low batt warning before recharging. This will assist the batt in recovery. During this process if possible monitor with a test intrument(fluke 123 or 43B will do) the batt pack discharge curve , once the batt pack has dropped to its charge level from float, it should be a smooth decay.
depending on the state of the batts you may be ok, if there are weak ones in the string then you may have to replace all of them depending on the age of the batt pack.

MAKE SURE YOU ARE VERY CAREFUL WITH BATTERIES, THEY ARE VERY DANGEROUS, AND ALWAYS LIVE!

Check you manual for safety procedures, BEFORE working on Batteries.

hope this helps

thanks for using Fixya
