Do you have insert it with a wrong direction? Commonly, when you put in a SD card with a right direction, press it until the card has got to the end then loose your finger, the card will in place..

I have had this camera for 5 years and use multiple SD cards. They have all worked up until today. I just wonder if the card slot holder is broken and can it be fixed?

It's able to change a card slot and it won't charge much.

Confirm the features of your SD Card with this Nikon information...

None of my SD cards - zjlimited_1190.jpg

** While "WA" (Write Accelerated) cards may be approved for use in this camera, no speed improvements will be noted over non-WA cards.

Additionally, look inside the C.F. card slot. I would bet that you will see a couple of bent pins, one on each end of the connector. If you do find bent pins you can usually straighten them out with a very small screwdriver. Check that the card in the slot is positioned correctly.

Contact Nikon tech support at www.nikon.com to see what they recommend. I don't think the warranty covers abuse such as dropping the camera so you may be in for an expensive repair. However, he Nikon techs may be able to suggest something that might help you avoid that expense.

I OWN A NIKON D50 ,,''ITS IN "CARD IS LOCKED" MODE

Look at your memory card. SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

My D50 Nikon camera reads CHR I bought a new SD Card it is 4G can that to big

The D50 works with SD cards. Your 4GB card is actually an SDHC card. While it fits into the slot, it will only work with devices specifically designed to accept SDHC cards. The D50 wasn't. It only works with SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

Memory not working in my D50.

The D50 will only accept up to a 2gb SD card. Cards of 4gb and larger are a newer type of SD card, known as SDHC (secure digital high capacity). At the time the D50 was made, SDHC cards weren't on the market. In short, if it is larger than 2gb it won't work. There's also no upgrade that I've found to handle SDHC cards in the D50, either. I love my D50, except for the card limitation.

Problem with sd

According to the web page for this model, the camera is compatible with SD cards (only). The SD card protocol handled up to 2 GB. The SDHC card works with a different protocol, and digital devices made before the SDHC card came out may not be compatible with the newer protocol.

My Nikon D50 camera says

It thinks that the SD card is full - try re-formatting if you have no photos there. The SD functions the same as a PC hard drive, and if the directory 'tracks' are corrupt, anything could happen. Else try a new SD card.
