This could be a printer driver problem. Try to uninstall your existing Lexmark X4270 printer driver from your computer. On your computer, go to Start menu > Programs > Lexmark 4200 Series > Tools > Uninstall. After the process, reboot pc when prompted.
Check if your Windows 7 is running on 32-bit or 64-bit operating system. Go to Start menu > right-click on Computer > Properties. Take note of the System Type.

Try either of the following methods to clear the paper jam. The operator panel displays the Ready message when the jam is cleared.Method A:
Press Paper Rewind until the Paper Empty message appears.
Press Paper Advance to re-load the paper into the printer. The printer advances the paper, then cuts and discharges about 24 in. (61 cm) of blank paper. This reduces the possibility of fingerprints or other damage to the prints.
Method B:
Turn off the printer and open the upper cover.
Remove the ribbon from the printer. Caution: Prevent damage to the printer. Do not pull abruptly on the paper.
Slowly and carefully pull the jammed paper out of the printer.
Cut off any damaged or printed areas of the paper. Do not damage or mark any of the rollers.
Close the upper cover and turn on the printer.
Press Paper Rewind to rewind the paper into the printer. Note: If the Paper Jam message still appears on the operator panel, press Paper Rewind again.
Open the upper cover and reload the ribbon.
Close the cover.
Reload the paper.
Note: If the Paper Jam message still displays on the operator panel, and you are at the end of a paper roll, it is possible that a segment of paper is too short to automatically exit the printer. Remove the front cleaning roller and remove the segment of paper.
A: Power the printer on and press the Load/Eject button to see if paper will load. If no paper loads, make sure the paper isn't curled or creased, isn't too old, isn't loaded above the arrow on the left edge guide, and that the paper isn't jammed in the printer. If the Paper Out light is on solid, reload the paper, making sure the paper edge guide is adjusted to fit the paper's width, and then press the Load/Eject button again to see if the paper will now load. If the Paper Out light is flashing, turn the printer off, reload the paper, turn the printer back on, and try pressing Load/Eject again to see if the printer will now successfully load the paper. If the printer still will not load paper, power the printer off, remove the printer cable, and make sure all of the packing materials are removed. If the problem persists, the printer may need to be sent in for service and you should contact the EPSON Connection for assistance.
This printer is very finicky about paper loading. I see this error most commonly when using auto-cut roll paper. If the paper edge is not cut perfectly straight, and it is not inserted into the printer perfectly strait, it will give you an error. When it does this, you can simply load the paper and press "cut" instead of "pause" when it says "press pause" and it will cut the paper straight. You can also set it to "Roll Paper Manual Cut" and load the paper, then set it back to "Roll Paper Auto Cut."
1.The printer is asking you to manualy load the right size paper.
source tray possibly tray 1
2. The printer has finished printing the first side of a manual-duplexed job and is waiting for the pages to be reloaded so it can print the second side. Reload the pages.
3.you are trying to print to the source (tray) and there is no paper in the selected tray. laod paper trays.
4. The print image is larger than size of paper in the tray. Load the right size paper. Press go Button
Often, this type of problem is caused by the paper sensor which is nothing but a small switch activated with the presence of the paper(s) pressing on it, It would look like a small tab/lever that would move (to activate the switch) by the paper pushing against it. You would have to inspect this lever/switch and determine if it would move freely. It is very rare for the actual switch to go bad, often it would be just the tab/lever not depressing deep enough to engage said switch.
Hope that this beof initial idea/help. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
