Printed copies have ghost images on them. I have never had this problem before., It looks like the image printed twice - once fine and then faint horizontal lines, sometimes some of the previously printed words, across page, maybe 5 inches below the original print (faint but very noticible.) Does something need to be cleaned or replaced?

1) try doing a full clean from within the menu on the printer, or within the computer software
2) You need to perform a half test. Put a sheet of paper on the manual feeder and do a config page from the information menu on the printer. When the back edge of the paper enters the printer, quickly open the toner door to stop the printing. Now remove the toner cartridge and look at the image below. If the defect is present, then the toner cartridge is the problem 99% of the time. There is a slight possibility that during the conditioning stage of the print process the drum of the toner is not being fully discharged so when the next stage takes places part of the previous image gets put on the toner cartridge again. Very rare. If the defect is not present then the fuser has an issue.

RICOH FW740 is printing with a ghost image. Can I clean it myself?

Ghost images appear on the printed page because of bad cleaning blade or improper charging of the drum unit. Ghost images appear on the next printed page if cleaning blade does not clean the drum surface. Drum/ photoconductor is very sensitive to light, so special care should taken while pulling it out. The ghost image of the print is printing on the paper with the orignal print ?

Ghosting is a condition where theimage prints properly, but a much lighter copy of the image also printselsewhere. This can be due to a problem with the power outlet that is supplyingpower to the printer. Check the power outlet by plugging in a different printerto see if the same results occur. Ghosting can also be caused when consumableprinter parts (such as the drum or imaging kit) are near the end of their life. All of the consumable parts in a printer are rated for a certain number ofpages. Once a printer gets near that magic number, you'll need to replace thoseparts to eliminate ghosting.
This will help. good luck.

My Brother MFC 7840W prints but has a faint copy of the previous paragraph about 3 inches below. I have cleaned the corona wire very thoroughly but still the 'ghost' printing on my documents. How do I fix...

Yes. The drum is most likely your problem. It is possible that it is a one time problem, which can occur if you print a very dark black page or image followed by a light gray page or image. If it has only happened once or twice try printing a different document to check it. If it is happening repeatedly, then you should replace the drum and instantly see it fixed. You can get a drum anywhere that supplies toner.

I hope this helps! Good luck!

When using both the FAX and COPY functions of the Canon Laserclass 710 the printed page shows a 2nd "ghosted" image of the primary image about half way down the page. We've tried a few adjustments but the...

Generally, when you have a ghosting problem, the issue is with the fusing unit. If you have a new fusing unit (or if you can get one) install the new unit and the problem should go away.

If you don't have access to a new fuser, you can try replacing the drum/imaging unit. Sometimes a ghosting problem can be caused by a bad cleaning unit (inside the imaging unit), but usually it's the fuser causing the problem.

Bright white screen with faint images

If lighting did strike, you would be suffering power supply problems, due to a power surge from the strike.
The problem sounds like it could be related to the LCD panel becoming faulty or if your able to test inside the unit with a multimeter, you can measure the voltages from the printed circuit boards, especisly those suppling power to the LCD panel as well as the Logic PCB, A small printed circuit board you will find either attatched to the LCD panel. I hope this helps.
Good luck.

Printed image repeats later

I have a Dell 5100CN, and believe that this problem is caused by the drum not releasing the full charge which holds the ink in place on the drum until the page is printed. After the image is transfered to the Drum, the 'Fuser' unit heats up the paper and pressure forces the paper against the drum to transfer the toner from the drum to the paper.

Since the Image is printing, and you are getting a ghost, I guess that the problem is most likely the 'Pressure Roller' or 'Heater' in the 'Fuser' unit.

Buying the Fuser unit from Dell could cost you around $200 from Dell, but I just found one on eBay for $129 Got to www.ebay.com and search for item number 190388919845

I highly recommend that you buy a new OEM (original Equipment Manufacturer (Genuine Dell)) 'Fuser Unit'

Good Luck

Colour printing gives ghost image

Are you using genuine Brother color cartridges? If you are, then try different paper (20 pound laser printer paper or plain paper copier paper rather than inkjet paper,) Also, do not use recycled paper. If that does not work, you may need a new imaging (OPC belt) unit, or a new fuser assembly. Check your owners manual about when to replace the imaging unit or fuser. It is usually after 60, 000 prints have been run.
