Its can be defrost problem. But still whats the exact model number of the unit.As per that the exact problem can be detected. Is it old model or new model.? --------- Is there any water leak noticed in fridge section , then yes its defrost issue.------ --- Keep updated with details.

Ok, freezer is working but fridge not cooling.

First try the manual defrost procedure. The procedure is as
    follows: ----

    color:black;mso-ansi-language:EN-US;mso-fareast-language:EN-US;mso-bidi-language:
AR-SA">First unplug the unit from main power outlet. Then empty whole unit
completely. Then keep both the doors open. Wait for 24 hours. All the ice
collected on the coils and in the freezer section will get melted.
Clean the water from the sections. Then Connect the power cord of the unit to
main power outlet after 24 hours/.Then set the temperature to normal in both
fridge and freezer section. It will take near to 4 hours to get run in its
proper cooling cycle. Then check, if the problem returns again.------------ If after manual defrost, the problem is same, then see if the fan in freezer section is running or not running.Actually it should run.If its not running, that means the fan is the issue. The fan is in the inner panel side of the freezer. The inner panel has to be removed.

    ---------------

But if fan is running in the freezer, then the problem is with defrost assembly.

    mso-fareast-language:EN-US;mso-bidi-language:AR-SA">The defrost assembly
consists of three main parts. The defrost thermostat, the defrost heater and
defrost board. Any of the one is not functioning. When thermostat sense the
maximum cooling, it triggers the defrost heater to start heating and this
defrosts the ice collected on the coils and the system works. Both thermostat
and heater are controlled by defrost board. First the thermostat and
defrost heater to be checked, if both check ok by meter and visually, then its
defrost board causing the problem. You can get
required parts from from online sites like:

Its defrost problem.--------- When you open the freezer door, then ice starts getting defrosted, because outside temperature is warm and due to that inside ice gets bit melted.--------- -------------- The working procedure of this unit is as follows: --- The compressor starts then it cools the freezer section. When the freezer reaches its cooling level the defrost cycle starts functioning. In this cycle the fan in the freezer section starts running and the cool air in the freezer section is passed to the fridge section and the fridge section gets cold. The air from freezer to refrigerator passes from the section, in that section the damper is located. ----------- The damper is operated by a motor. Its a complete damper assembly with motor included in it.--The damper has door.Which closes and open with the help of motor. In your case the damper door is blocked by ice, because your refrigerator is not defrosting. But when you open the freezer door, the inside ice gets bit warm and it starts melting and this lets the fridge section get cool.------------------- In this case you will have to manually defrost the ice and inspect, if the problem solves. For manual defrost procedure, click the link below:-------- Click this below for more detail:--- http://technoanswers.blogspot.com/2011/06/refrigerator-is-not-cooling-properly.html ----------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Older (20 to 25 years old) non-frost free Whirlpool refrigerator is not cooling below 60 degrees. I defrosted it and left it off with doors open in garage for 10 hours. Turned the cooler knob to 4...

Good day,
If it is a conventional refrigerator, there should be a cooling plate on the top back of the wall in the food section.
Assuming the door fits and closes properly, and the light goes out when the door closes, the plate described above should have a frost pattern on it. That is what cools the bottom fresh food section.
If left on for plus 12 hours normal cooling should exist.
If the plate is not frosted, and the machine runs constantly, you have a freon leak with no real practical repair possible.
You could recharge it, but it would be pricey, and just repeat the problem shortly.

REFRIGERATOR WARM ABOVE 60 FREEZER 0

Try moving the air flow setting in the refrigerator up higher. I know my beer wasn't that cold before and moved the setting from 2 -6 and that made all the difference

Freezer working fine, but no cold air to fridge

Sounds like a defrost problem. Check to see if there is any frost buildup in the back wall of the freezer. If so, it is not defrosting as it should.
  • possible causes:
  1. bad defrost timer/control unit
  2. bad defrost heater (in freezer)
  3. bad thermo switch in freezer
If you don’t know what these are then unplug the machine and let the ice melt in the freezer overnight with the door open. Then try it the next day, if is cooling fine then you need to have a service person replace one of the above items. If it still has a problem then it might be the compressor and you should probably replace the machine.
