In this situation the water valve is a duel valve one side is for water in the door the other side is for the ice maker, replace the valve you should be able to get a generic valve that will fit for a much more resoneablr price

Have you checked behind the ice maker to see if the tube that supplies water is not frozen. If there is a frozen area in front of it, water can still be used, but the icemaker won't receive water to make ice.
The easy way to fix this is to hook up a hair dryer and use that to melt the ice. (Make sure to turn off the ice maker first) Once it is melted, it should start working again.

This is most likely cause because some part of the ice maker/distribution mechanism is broken. If at all possible, remove everything from the fridge and freezer and allow the freezer to thaw. If that is not possible, you could try and remove just the ice maker to thaw it or try and thaw it while it is still in the freezer. I hope this helps and have a nice day!

SOURCE: icemaker

Check the power conection to the ice maker. If that's ok, then I would think the solenoid that controls the water flow has gone bad. Unfortunately, you will likely have to replace the whole ice maker, I don't think they are reparable.

SOURCE: icemaker

Do you hear it trying to draw water into the ice tray? If so, there might be an internal problem you can't fix yourself. especially since the fridge is dispencing water. Is the arm inside the ice maker pushe down? This is what tells the ice maker to fill and make the ice.

Let me know if this helps.

SOURCE: ice maker not working ; water dispenser ok

The reason could be several different possibilities. the water control valve for the ice maker no longer works or one of the many components inside the ice maker is needing replace or adjusted. Go to link below and enter model ED5VHGXM into model search. Click on photo #12 ice maker and you get a breakdown of of all the parts. Let me know, Sea Breeze

SOURCE: no water to door or icemaker on KSSS48DBW00

Tryusing an hairdryer or defrosting the unit completely , this often getrid of blockage caused by frozen lines fixing the problem.

The water lines can also be unblocked from dirt using a thin flexible shaft. This after defrosting.

If all that does not fix the problem, then you may need to replace thewater valve, the icemaker solenoid, or the whole icemaker assembly.

How do i fix ice maker

Could be 2 different problems. Inlet water valve is a dual valve (2 halves). 1 half feeds water to the door dispenser, the other half fills the icemaker. The icemaker half could be bad or blocked up with sediment causing a no fill situation. 2nd problem could be the icemaker itself which sends power to the inlet valve when it needs filled. Usually the inlet valve fails first but you need to test and see.

GE Side by Side Refrigerator model GSS25jfpa cc. No water to icemaker. Replaced the ice maker and the dual solenoid water valves. Still no water to ice maker? Water to door works fine.

if you can reverse the solenoid valve wire connections, then use the door water fill to activate this valve, but not long as it will overfill the icemaker, this will certify that theres water getting up to the icemaker, then it could be the maker itself not activating the icemakers water valve assy to fill the maker

Water started pouring out of the icemaker and out the dispenser. When we opened the freezer door water poured out of the icemaker and down the whole freezer. Opened icemaker flap and water stopped. Turned...

Cindy, it’s either the water inlet valve that fills your ice maker or the ice maker itself that is bad. The ice maker itself controls the valve. It should come on for about 7 seconds to fill the tray. The valves do fail but not as often as ice makers fail. Its also possible that the fill tube to the ice maker is blocked with frozen water but since it made one tray that is unlikely. If you know someone that knows how to test the valve it would eliminate the decision of replacing the ice maker or the valve. Otherwise I would recommend changing the ice maker first. Hope this helps.

Ice maker quit water line works intermittingly

icemaker quite? hire a new icemaker. industry joke sorry.
First things first, is it cooling ok? if yes then proceed.
im assuming it stopped making ice altogether, and not a matter of making ice but not dispensing.

If your ice bucket is located in the door itself, you have an electric eye icemaker system, which electronically determines if the bucket is full or not. this electric eye system, located on both side walls of freezer, consist of a transmitter board and a receiver board. you could have a problem with these boards, the icemaker itself, a bad water valve, or depending on the model year, a icemaker fill line that can get clogged with ice, but due to a faulty design, a fill tube heater must be installed.

if your bucket is not in the door, but located directly beneath the icemaker, then disregard the electric eye system info and the fill tube heater info as well.

Icemaker not working

The ice maker valve is a dual one. with 2 solenoids. One solenoid operates the water and the other the ice maker. So if the water works that don't mean the ice maker supply is ok. The ice maker itself controls the flow of water. So if the water valve is ok then the ice maker is faulty. I have repair photos HERE

ICE MAKER QUIT MAKING ICE ON MY WHIRLPOOL FRIDGE

I had a Whirlpool Model GD5SHAXNS in which the icemaker quit working about the same time (3 years old). I had water out the dispenser, I found that it was the icemaker itself failed not calling for water to fill it. I replaced it with a icemaker on-line for about $100 and problem fixed. I have been told his is a common problem with the icemaker in this model ref.

Ice maker quit working

good sign its flashing , woth door open depress the left side flap oppiste the blinkin light. does the light then go solid red??? i fso its an indication that the electricl eye is operating ok .
theres a screw 1/4 in. along the right side underneath the icemaker itself, youll need to removeit and the cover its holding down. you can then slide the ice maker assy foward and out of machine,There will be another litle tab along loeft side uder ice maker youll need to depress to ppulll unit out. pry off the white cover from front of the ice maker assy itself and have a look at the main gear 2 in. round, is it broken off, or on its way top breaking( sometimes the tabs that hold it on to the ice maker module itself break preventing operation, if this is the case youll need to repalce the ice maker assy.

Ice Maker not Getting Water

There are two solenoid-operated water valves - one for the water dispenser and one for the icemaker. They're located near the water connection at the back of the fridge. There is no pump; the water pressure sends water to the icemaker whenever this valve is opened by the icemaker controls. Your symptoms sound like the coil is burned out on the valve. You can check it by disconnecting the wires and checking for coil continuity with an ohmeter. If the coil is open, replace the valve. Both valves might be combined into one assembly, so be sure you test both coils. Of course it's also possible that the trouble is in the icemaker itself, but a failed intake valve is more likely.
