Flash Problems - Please Help!

posted by LHanna on Aug 11, 2008

I am having a horrible time with my EX-Z75!
Everytime I take a picture outside, the flash is so bright it washes out the picture. and everytime i take one in a darker setting the flash never goes off and it comes out dark. I have tried all flash settings ... auto, on, soft, and the red eye reduc. and none of them work. In the beginning it worked perfectly, for about a year -- so i was wondering if there was any way I could reset the settings to be how they came when i got it out of the package?! Or if there is a solution to this flash problem,
Thanks!

Does the flash go off outside?

When you view the pictures and use the zoom function to zoom in, does the pictures ery thin vertical have lines through it?

Can you post an example?

All the best and Happy Snapping :-)

Sounds like you flash circuit board is faulty and will require replacing. In Australia the approximate cost for this repair is arounf $140 - $160 AUD.

You asked in the origanal question how you can reset the camera to its origanal settings - Firstly make sure you are not is EASY mode. If you are you need to switch that off by going pressing the menu button, scrolling down the menu until you come to "turn off easy mode" select that. Now you are in normal mode again, press the menu button there are 3 selections you need to go to setup which is the tab on the far right of the LCD. Once it is highlighted press the up selection button (it will take you to the bottom of the settings tab sub menu. There you will find reset camera. press ok. press the up selection again and press ok again. this will reset almost all of the camera settings. You may need to change the display still. You can do this by pushing the button that says DISP.

Good luck and Happy snapping

The flash goes off outside and inside, but not consistently. i went to an outside concert and it was dark and the flash would not go off on any setting. and in the beginning of the concert when it was sunny. The flash would go off and wash out the picture. I dont have any examples to post, just because i deleted them after it happened -- it wasn't worth it to keep the ruined pics. My considerations for just buying a new camera are high! I have had more problems with this camera than any other.
