Hi, First try to format your data traveler. If it doesn't help you then you have to repair or replace it. Rush to the nearest Kingston or Seagate service center.

you might have a virus on it. scan it with a virus software program. also try another usb port. some times the 2.0 ports don't work on the 1.0 ports.

My 8GB Kingston pen drive shows ''USB device not recognized'' when inserted in any PC. Help please

It has malfunctioned.
Kingston will replace it, under warranty, but all your data is, sadly, "gone".

I have bought a batch of 8gb kingston micro sd cards and although in unformatted state they show 7.70gb, after formatting they become only1.88gb. even in unformatted state they do not store any more data...

u r gone to cheat, its not a 8gb, its a 2gb.
So it show 1.88gb, othr remains were use for self application

Bcoz software measure in 1024 &
hardware measure in 1000,
So due to this issue it show the deviation

My kingston 8gb cards only show 1.87 gb and will

The 'FAT' file-system uses 16-bit arithmetic, and thus is limited to about 2GB in size.
The 'FAT32' file-system uses 32-bit arithmetic, and thus can easily format an 8GB device.

So, be sure to choose 'FAT32'.

Also:
Click Start
Right-mouse click My Computer
Choose Manage
Click Storage
Click Disk Management (local)
Does the card show a 1.87GB "partition", plus 6.13GB of "unused" space?
If so, then delete that "small" partition, and then create a new partition that "spans" the entire 8GB.
Then, FORMAT that partition.
