Possible that the noise can be associated with a faulty frequency in the switch mode power supply. So if you see a blurred or warbled picture then check the main capacitor in the power supply as it can be faulty and so produce the A/C ripples in he power so that the SMPS works with a difference.

If you are using a power supply. Get you a better power supply(full filtered) RADIO SHACK has many 12 volt 3 amp models. Run power wires away from radio about 10 feet away to eliminate hum. AM does hum when its near power lines, household appliances. Keep it away from TV's etc. Turn off TV then listen to it. Make sure you have good outdoor antenna like Antron A99 18ft. Fiberglass on Tv pole or Tower. If its inside car --its the engine. you need a Radio Shack Power filter. A coil of wire wrapped around a core and big capacitor on the (+) side shunted to ground by a 470uf Capacitor. Turn off engine then listen.

My tablesaw will no longer run. I plug it in and turn it on, the blade partially moves and I hear a humming sound

The motor is receiving power, and that is the humming noise.
The humming sound also says the motor is overheating and will burn out.

Turn saw off.
Use hand and manually rotate blade to see if it rolls free.

For example on my saw, the blade barely turned because a bearing was rusted.
I soaked the bearing in wd-40 and 3-in-one oil and salvaged it.
Look for oil ports on each end of motor, and on bearings.
Clean pulleys and belt that connect blade to motor.

If your blade rolls free, and the motor shaft moves freely, then the motor winding has gone bad, so replace motor.

Add a comment for more free help.
Also take advantage of fixya phone service.
For a price, expert speaks with you over phone while you work on table saw or any do-it-yourself project.
Fixya is always less expensive than a service call.

I have a rented MK 1080 brick saw that i have put a lapidary blade on -- slicing some rocks -- soft stuff, mainly -- for about four hours. Then it stopped - not jammed, just stopped. I figured it was...

Good Clues, Andrew!
Let's do some trouble shooting, and see what we learn:

You say the motor hums-- does it sound like it is stalled?
(Likely lights dim-- and it sounds urgent!)

Or is the humming, like maybe the motor is running, and the belt is broken, or off the pulley?

Can you rotate the blade, by hand OK?--
Does it seem to be "too free" wheeling-- like nothing is connected to it?

Can you open up the guards and shields, and look inside-- give us more clues--
Be sure to have the plug removed from the power when you open it up.
Tell us what you learn, maybe we can help more then.

No sound

Hello sir, hi, missing sound can be costly to repair or needs service by the manufacturer if the problem is the main circuit board. to test, i need you to do something first so as we can find where the problem is. here are the steps. 1. turn on the TV. 2. tune to a program. or watch a movie via DVD. 3. now place you ears near the speakers. 4. do you hear a soft hum? 5. no, set the volume high. do you hear the hum? still no. problem is the amplifier. 6. yes. problem is before the amplifier.
1. problem with the amplifier no soft hum. this problem is due to a failure of the amplifier IC. or an open loudspeaker driver. this you can do, check the wiring of the loudspeaker if it is intact. you may need to disassemble it carefully to have a see. If intact, next is the IC amplifier test/replacement. you need a service technician to do this.
2. problem with the amplifier with a soft hum. this tell you that the amplifier section is good, and the audio source is not reaching the amplifier input. this needs a thorough check on the main board. to conduct this test we need very expensive test instruments, so I suggest have this checked by the service center instead.

I have no audio

Hello sir, Hi, No Audio on your TV can be user error or Hardware error, for the user error, make sure that the TV is not set to low volume or the setup is on MUTE, for the hardware error, Place your ear close to the speakers, then set the volume up and down several times, you should hear a soft hum that goes up or down, (make sure that the room is quiet.) The soft hum means that the power amplifier is working properly. so the problem may be on the main board where the sound is being produce before amplification, usually the sound IF section. NOW if you did not hear the soft hum, problem with the amplifier and speakers, A physical checking for open wire contact or loose connection is needed.

No sound

Hello endow1, hi, try this test, unplug you Logitech audio in plug and touch the input, you should hear a humming sound, Adjust the volume settings to high to hear it. If you cannot hear the humming sound, then there are problems you need to check. Place you speakers near your ear and adjust the volume Up and Down, you may hear a soft hum that should go up and down. Absence of the hum means that the speaker has loose connection from amplifier to speaker driver, or loss of power, check to see if there is pilot light.

My saw wont run only buzz

Sounds like teh capacitor has blown. These machines use normally use induction motors so they need the capacitor to take a charge and give the motor a kick in the right direction. You could CAREFULLY turn the machine on and spin the blade by hand. If it runs now then you will need a new capacitor.
