I just bought 2 of the DSR 115 Yamaha speakers. One of them is NOW making a "light fluttering" sound from the woofer! Could this damage caused by my "Yamaha GQ 1031 b EQ" "SpX 50 D yamaha sound processsor" and "MC 802 Yamaha Board" connections?? Even when I disconnect all the cables and power it up alone, it STILL makes that "subtle Fluttering" noise!

If the woofer is motor boating....going in and out, like a flutter,
likely a power supply issue on the power amp board, in back of the speaker. This would need to be repaired. Since these are powered speakers, if for example, a power supply capacitor were bad,
it can do that. If under warrantee, find an authorized repair center near you. Contact manufacturer.

It sounds to me like the woofer is blown. use an ohm meter to check for continuity. If it reads open, replace/recone the speaker.

Please illuminate me explaining the word "Muffled" means and i will be glad to help you out...

Step 1:

Hate to say it, but possibly a blown speaker. To check this, do the following -

Step 2:

Insert headphones into jack to verify for sound there.

Step 3:

Unplug unit and open rear panel to reveal speakers.

Step 4:

Remove leads from woofer.

Step 5:

Using a multimeter, set to OHM (horseshoe) to lowest setting.

Step 6:

Apply red(+) and black(-) to speaker leads. Meter should read at least 4-8 ohms of resistance.

Step 7:

If no reading, then voice coil is blown.

Step 8:

If no meter available to use, the use a 9 volt battery by applying direct connection to speaker leads in an off-and-on fashion - You should hear a "click" sound come from speaker. If no "click," then speaker is blown.

Step 9:

If click is heard, and resistance on meter is correct, then the amp circuitry leading to the woofer may be blown = repair needed.

Ok. First, check your power supply voltages....then check IC2 for correct voltages and also check C9 ,C17 for ESR...clip signal can come from either woofer or horn circuits...lift one end of R19 in the preamp ckt....this will break the woofer signal and see if the light goes out...if it does, look for issues with the pre-amp after it seperates the hi and low signals...if not, then look for problens in the horn circutry.....and get a schematic....it will make it so much easier....good luck....

Usually the colors you will find are red and black pair and yellow and white... USUALLY the red/blk pair go to the tweeter horn with red going to the + lead of the horn drivers. Usually the yellow/white pair go to the woofer with the white going to the + lead of the woofer in Peavey speakers... HOWEVER you never know if someone has rewired the cabinet so going by colors is NOT the best way to go... This should have the "soundgard" circuit in it and the lead that goes throught the lamp and resistor that is NOT connected to the inout jack is the TWEETER + lead. The pair that connects to the inout jack DIRECTELY is the woofer leads and the TIP connection of a 1/4 inch jack is the + woofer lead. Verifying these connections is the best method.

Check the resistance across the woofer connection points. Using an ohmmeter, you should se around 6 to 8 ohms. If there is no continuity, you have a blown speaker.

This speaker is not an active one. This means that it hasn't integrated amplifier, so you need an external one. The cable from the amplifier goes to the speaker. Remove the woofer in order to get access at the inner parts and check these points:

• In case that there is a crossover present there must be a burned out coil or capacitance
• In case the cable from the female jacks at the back panel goes direct to the woofer, there must be the woofer destroyed or the cable disconnected. Check the cables, it's less expensive than to replace the woofer.

Post me back if there is a crossover in use or it is direct connected and any other points of interest you came up, in order to guide you further.

Have you connected the Left speaker to the right speaker using the supplied cable? If not, connect the cable to the socket on the back of the right speaker labelled "to left speaker" and on the left speaker, to the socket labelled "from right speaker"
If this still doesn't solve the problem, try swapping the input cables (put the white plug in the red socket and vice versa) to see if this makes the left speaker produce sound, if it does, check the connection at the source to check the plug(s) are in all the way. If there is still no sound in the left speaker, unplug everything and do the following:
connect the left and right speakers with the supplied phono lead (Probably black) between sockets labelled "to left speaker" and "from right speaker"
then connect the source to any of the inputs on the back of the right speaker (ensure if using the red and white phono inputs that both are connected)
finally plug in power source.

Without power to the unit no sound should be generated. Make sure there are no other connections.

MAYBE you have a wall transformer behind it that is buzzing. MANY wall transformers develop buzz.

Another source is flourescent lights and even some of the low voltage halogens have noisy transformers in the base.
