ATI RADEON HD 4650, PCI Express Video Card Logo
Anonymous Posted on May 03, 2011

Here's my system: MSI MS-7184 Motherboard AMD Sempron 3200+ 1.8GHz 2GB RAM Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit Problem: I bought a Powecolor HD 4650 1GB DDR3 and when I inserted it in my computer. It gets real slow. And I feel it is corrupting the processing unit. I looked at the task manager, the cpu usage is in 100%, but the memory usage is stable at around 500 MB. Question: What should I do with this problem? :(

  • Anonymous May 10, 2011

Yes my video card got replaced but nothing happened. It is still the same like the first one. Do you think my motherboard cant keep up or the processor?

Hi,

Judging from the symptoms you describe I suspect that your graphics card is faulty. Did you buy the card new? If so, I would suggest returning it & asking the store to test it for you.
If it is determined that the card is not faulty, reply to this post & I will try to help you further.

Best wishes,
Graemevm

Your problem is not a common one. I would also try reinstalling your operating system. If you are afraid to lose saved data, install it to a different drive or partition & check your CPU usage once again. If this gives you no joy, your best bet would be to swop out parts, starting with the processor, & determine which part is causing the problem.
You could also download a CPU usage logger to help determine the cause of the high CPU usage: http://sourceforge.net/projects/cpu-usag...

    Best wishes,
    Graemevm

I have an older Acer Aspire 3000... it recently became to cluttered and when I tried to reformat loading windows 7 ultimate, it stopped saying it couldn't find everything it needed. I'm fairly certain its...

Not all systems are supported by Windows 7. Infact many items that were supported by vista are not supported in windows 7.

looking at your system specs you woudl originally have AMD Mobile Sempron 3000+ / 1.8 GHz , 256mb ram and windows xp home as your original.

this system does not meet the minimum requirements to run Windows 7 Ultimate or Windows 7 at all.

minimum specs for windows 7 are

  • 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
  • 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
  • 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
  • DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

  • i do not recommend a 1ghz system. i would recommend a 2ghz or better with 2GB of memory for a basic version
