Dell Inspiron Mini 10 Notebook Logo
Anonymous Posted on May 03, 2011

I just purchased the dell inspiron mini and it runs very slow. It takes about 5 minutes to completely start up and using Facebook seems to load it down and creep along. Is there something I can do to help speed it up?

If you purchased this computer new ... return it and have the retailer make it right. If this is a previouisly owned computer, it might be worth the $75.00 to have the big box store take a look at it.

Testimonial: "It was purchased new. Thanks!"

Since it is new ... it has a warranty ... and the retailer and the manufacturer have a responsibility, a duty to give you what you paid for. If you mess with it ... you will be relieving them of their responsibility. Make sense? Thanks for your speedy response and 4 thumbs up evaluation.

More than likely you have been loaded down with alot of useless software upon bootup.
If is windows 7 hit start button then type msconfig click selective startup then the startup tab and look for any programs that may be running that you dont need on startup. Things like google updater or imaging software basically any program that you know loads upon startup that you dont use. De-select the ones you dont need apply and restart should speed up quite a bit.

Dell restart problem

  • A Miller Jan 23, 2013

What does this mean??? The original question from May 2011 stated the person just bought the computer (New presumably), take it backand get it fixed. Warranty is now expired. If it was used, get it overhauled by the big box store. What is your comment?

Hi,
Do you have any antivirus program installed? If you have, check if it set to scan during startup. This might be the reason why your computer is slow during startup since a full computer scan can definitely eat up memory usage.
Hope this helps.

How do I restore factory settings on my dell inspiron mini 1012?

  1. Restoring a Dell System Running Windows XP.

Turn off and reboot your computer. When you see the Windows flash screen, depress "CTRL" and "F11". Be sure to press them simultaneously and release them simultaneously.

Select "Restore" in the "Dell PC to restore by Symantec" window and press "Enter".

Highlight and select "Confirm" when the message shows that you wiill lose all data if you continue. This will begin the restore process. It usually takes about 10 minutes or so. When it's done, you should receive a message that states the system recovery process was successful.

Select "Finish" to complete the process and restart your system.
  2. Step 6 Restore a Dell System Running Windows Vista

Shutdown and restart your computer. Keep pressing "F8" until you see the "Advanced Boot Options" menu. You must depress the keys before the Windows Logo screen appears. If you wait until after the screen appears and then press "F8", it's too late and you'll have to reboot the system and try again.

Navigate to the "Repair your computer" option

Select the appropriate language and click "Next".

Sign onto the system as an administrator. Without administrative privileges, you will be unable to perform the system restore.

Select "Dell Factory Image Restore" and click "Next".

Place a check in the check box next to the text that says "Yes, reformat hard drive and restore System Software to factory condition" and click "Next".

Click "Finish" to complete the process. This will reboot your computer.

Dell pc to slow

Yes, you can get (any) help. You must run a Registry Cleaner. It will clean your Windows registry which seems to be having irrelevant entries. You can down load one free from www.download.com or you can search google for free registry cleaners. I had the same problem and my laptop used to take over 20 mins to boot. I cleaned it with one RC and now it gallops like a new laptop. I do not think that you have any hardware problem.

Inspiron 1150 Slow startup, slow printing, unable to run 2 programs at once

What Operating System do you run? If it is Windows XP SP2 (Home Edition or professional), here are some things you can do to speed up your system. 1st you should remove all programs that are not required from the start menu. Start > Run > Msconfig > startup tab. Unselect all that are not necessary. Also Right click on my computer > properties > Advanced > Performance settings > Adjust for best performance. This should speed things up a little. I would recommend atleast 512 MB of memory to run Windows XP and its applications decently. You should consider an upgrade.
