I have a Maytag Gemini Double oven stove -MER6772BAW - All of a sudden neither the bake or broil functions work in the bottom oven. When I set the broiler the display reads high but the element does not heat up. When I set it to bake it immediately goes to 100 but the oven does not heat up however you can hear clicking as if it is trying to heat up. Any ideas on what is wrong?

SOURCE: MAYTAG STOVE PROBLEM...NEED HELP

the broiler came on automatically??? not a sensor issue. sounds as if you have a broken wire perhaps, or a faulty control panel energizing the broil element w/o being prompted to. does it say its broiling when element comes on??

Defy Gemini Gourmet Multifunction Thermofan double oven. The top oven is not heating up?

Question edited for clarity and toss in a load of CAPS.

Disconnect the element and the fan and check them both for continuity with a multimeter. If the circular element or the fan fails, nothing works, so it could be either.

When I turn on the broil function in the top oven, the bake igniter glows. I checked the voltage in the wires to the broil igniter and there is 0 volts. Is this a bad component on the ECB or can the ECB be...

This is probably a problem with the wiring outside of the control. To confirm this, check for continuity on the bake and broil relays upon activation of the broil function. If the the broil relay activates and the bake relay does not then your problem lies outside off the control board. I am familiar with troubleshooting Maytag appliances as I work for a company that repairs appliance timers.

The ovens fail to work after the cleaning cycle - displays says "call service". Now both ovens will not operate and neither do the timers.

Maytag model MER6772BAW was displayying f9-2 and call Authorized
service after cleaning also top door was locked and feature were disabled. I was able to solve the problem by unplugin the stove and waited about ten seconds before re-conecting once up the top door unlocked cleared the f9-2 error by pressing Auto set button and number 9 for Defauts. Perhaps this can help you.

no only the bottom the bake supposed to come on, the top one is for broiling when you set the knob or push for broiling.it will burn the top of everything you put in there.

You probably need to replace the baking igniter, (Igniter, bake burner
Part Number: AP4102011 made by MAYTAG).

I tested the igniter function by (CAREFULLY) jerryrigging a bridge to wire the BAKE igniter to the BROILER controls.(Push/click plugs accessible by opening up the stove back) Testing thebroiler controls this way the bake element remained cold. I then did the same test but connected the BROILER igniter to the BAKE controls and got a good glow. This indicates that the controls work but the Bake igniter's faulty!

You can access the bake igniter by removal of 2 screws at the front at the platform just inside the top oven. The broil and bake igniters appear to be identical but the push/click plugs are reversed at the back of the stove. (hence the CAREFUL jerry rigged wiring bridge.)The parts and wiring are pretty simple and visual once you get thecovers off. Opening up the stove back is just a matter of removingseveral screws. UNPLUG the stove before you work. If you test as Idescribed, make all connections while UNPLUGGED and then plug it inonly for the brief test. Unplug again while disconnecting/reconnecting.Hope this helps.
