It is probably a wiring issue, rats love copper so they will gnaw the insulation back and eat the wire. You might look around by where the nest was to see if any of the harnesses or wire leading is chewed into. Sometimes this can be a night mare depending on how new the vehicle is.

Hi,
Have you put a new battery in the car? If so and it still won't start, try retracing the wires under the hood to be sure the rats haven't chewed through any of them!

Daniel, If battery is known to be good, could be bad connections at battery, starter/solenoid, or ground on engine/frame, battery cables also could be bad with build up of corrosion internally. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

Park neutral safety switch maybe be the reason for the no crank ! Try putting the vehicle in park ,then try to crank the engine . Testing the electrical circuit is the best way to trouble shoot this problem , along with do a voltage drop test on the starter circuit ! This will test the battery cables an connections .

Replaced the starter and my Buick Regal but it still won't start

does it crank if so then it is not the starter. a car needs 2 things to run. gas ,air, and spark. is there a buzzing noise in the gas tank when you turn the key. do you know if you have spark to the spark plugs. if you have no spark then you need a crank position sensor

Engine wants to turn over but the car won't start. Is the starter stuck??

You can check the starter if it don't start take a hammer in hit the front of it then try to start it if it starts you know it's the starter next time it would help to know the make and year of the car if you can get to the starter if not have it check at a shop

well if you have a dvom/voltmeter check the power at the starter terminals. the main terminal should have power all the time the key wire should have power only when the key is turned to crank engine. if you have power at both then i would start looking at grounds

My stop lights are on even when the brake pedal is not depressed. Could this be a switch problem?

Could be the switch, or a wire may be shorted.
Try tapping the switch mounted at the brake pedal; also examine the connector and wiring from the switch.

I have had rats building nests in the engine gnawing the wire harnesses and wires. Sometimes they create a short circuit, sometimes create open circuits!

oh boy that's a big problem wiring can be such a pain ,OK do you have dash lights ,if so,their is ignition wire that goes from the base of the fuse box to the starter if you could find it ,trace it all the way to the starter make sure that is no chewed spots on the wire .If there is no lights check bye the battery terminal and trace the big red wire to the fuse box and make sure that your main fuse is not blown, also make sure that the wire is not cut either ,well let me know ,
