I have a Motorola MC5590 running Windows Mobile 6.5 Classic. Ideally, we would like to be able to scan barcodes using the MC5590, store them in an Excel spreadsheet on the MC5590 using Office Mobile, have this data saved on a 2GB microSD card that is currently installed in the MC5590 and then use the data on the microSD card to transfer onto a desktop workstation. We cannot connect the MC5590 directly to the workstation via USB cable or wireless connection as our network is secure and the MC5590 has not been certified for use with our network. Can this be done using the software that is included with the MC5590 / Windows Mobile 6.5 Classic? If so, how would we do this? So far, I can get the unit to scan a barcode if I open the MSP Rapid Deployment Client but I don't know where or if this information is stored on the MC5590. Thanks!

SOURCE: improper printing of barcodes

recalibrate the label length in the printer(hold feed and power up). from memory bar-one uses the label settings from windows, so go into printers and faxes under control panel and correct the label size

SOURCE: Labels not printing properly

El problema es que la impresora tiene diferentes parametros de impresion, de oscuridad o velocidad. Ajustalos para que sean iguales en el print server como en workstation. The problem is that the printer has different printing parameters, or speed or darkness. Adjust to be equal in the print server as workstation.

SOURCE: ladder orientation barcode printing bad resolution needs correcting

Try slowing down the speed of the printer. Faster speeds degrade the quality of your print. Try printing your serial (ladder) barcodes at 2-4 inches per sec. It should improve the quality of your format.

are they the same barcode type?
what is the font set at? using Arial or other fonts can make the software send a more complicated image. use the Zebra Triuverate font. this keeps it simple. also, do a print out of the settings on each printer and compare them line by line. change the settings to match the printer that is printing correctly.

Testimonial: "Thanks. Printing out the settings helped me realize it was not a printer issue. It was a software issue. Installing older version of software fixed it"

Hello, I am with Motorola and have a MC5590. The scanner function does not appear to be working. I have version 6.5. Do you have an instruction set that can test the functionality of the scanner? Thank...

Hello Glenn,
to test the scanner I would suggest to download and install the Datawedge application. It is an desktop installation. As you will connect your MC55 to the Desktop per Active Sync the application will be installed also to your MC55.

The DataWedge aplication will activate the scanner and the decoded barcode is sent as usual keypad input to the system. The application is running in background, if you scan a barcode a pop-up window will come up. Or if another application is running it will send the input to the application.

To download the DataWedge application please go to support.symbol.com website and search for DataWedge, or use this direct link http://support.symbol.com/support/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=12685

The scanner will not scan any barcodes. The red light lights up but nothing ever happens

The barcode is probably not enabled in factory settings. I would propose to use the manufacturers software called DataWedge, provided at support.symbol.com and check again. If you still have no luck try to find out which kind of barcode is it, by the producer and enable it in the settings of the software. Or better just select the option "Enable All" in the Basic configuration of DataWedge

I have third party software to initiate scanner functions on the Motorola but they do not work. In fact I cannot even scan without using the "Rapid Deployment Client" provided with the hardware. How do I...

DataWedge is an Application provided by Symbol/Motorola to enable the scanning module also for application without the driver. Scanned barcode is sent like an usual keyboard input.
There can be just one active application using the barcode scanner. If you are running DataWedge, you would need to stop it before starting any other application with built-in scanner drivers.
To stop DataWedge just click on the barcode icon in a right down corner and select - Disable DataWedge
