You need to replace the washer kit inside the top of the maker. Remove the 3 screws that fasten the top and lift it off. You will see the rocker leaver that allows the water to flow into the tank. At the point where the rocker stops the water there is a series of washers that degrade from the heat over time and allows the leak. The washers are very easy to replace. The problem is finding the washer kit. I found it at: www.buyitnow64.com for $3.95 plus shipping (FedEx is only $9.98). I bought 2 (one for backup) kits. The original washers lasted almost 6 years. I had repaired this problem before with a washer from my shop but it broke down rather quickly from the direct heat from the tank. This washer kit is a Bunn washer kit that is supposed to fit all Bunn machines both residential and commercial.
Hope this helps. It took me 2 hours on line to find the washers!
Hi - I wrote to Bunn with the same problem; here is their response:
Thank you for contacting Bunn O Matic.
I am ordering the parts and instructions needed to repair your machine. Those parts should arrive in 7 to 10 working days.
The repair kit does not include the water tray, but is designed to repair the area where the leak is occurring, even if the plastic is worn away. The water tray is not available from the factory.
Although there is no charge for these parts, if for any reason the repair doesn’t work, or if the machine leaks at a later date, that would mean your machine is not repairable. However, if your machine is not repairable, it would be eligible for our Exchange Program.
With the exchange program, your machine can be sent to the factory and exchanged for a new brewer at a savings of $30 to $40 off the retail price of a new machine.
If the repair doesn’t work, and you do want to exchange your machine for a new brewer, please go to our Web site, www.bunnomatic.com. When at our Web site’s Home Page, click on the “at Home” link. On the next page that comes up, click on the link for “Customer Support”. Once the drop-down menu appears, please click on “Parts and Services.” Make sure you fill out all areas on the “Parts and Services” form, including the model of the machine, the code number, and the exchange box. Once the form is completed, click on the Submit button.
Once I receive your form, I will let you know the procedures to follow to exchange your machine for a new brewer.
Thank you

Experiencing same problem. Appears there may be a recall depending on your model and production date. I suspect it is the small seal washer where top fill tube attaches to the top of the tank. Water leaking here would flow done inside the round steel body and leak out bottom.

When a machine leaks, it is generally an indication of a bad seal or gasket. If you will call Customer Service at 800-352-2866 with the model and date code we will be happy to help you resolve your issue.

open the cover on the brewer- depending on your model, it could be the front or the back cover. look for a brew timer dial. turn this up slowly, running a brew each time to see if you now have a full pot

Please get the model and the date code from the bottom of the machine and contact customer serivce. Depending on the date code, there might be a seal kit available or the machine can be replaced at no cost if 3 years old or less. If it is over 3 years old and the seal kit isn't available, the machine will be replaced at a reduced price.

Every time we brew coffee, we find water on the counter top. Would like to be able to repair myself, with helpful tips.
I have the exact same problem. Everytime I brew a pot, water leaks all over my counter tops. It's a great brewer, and its been in my family for years and years. I need to fix it. Is this something I can take to a local reapir shop, or do I have to send it off?
