Deleting files from camcorder is just like clearing the recycle bin or Trash onyour comptuter. The data itself isn't deleted, just the area containing the deleted data is also now marked as free space so it is available for any new data to be written there instead. So a simple delete won't make your videos erased permanently.

As a result, you have chance to retrieve those deleted videos as long as the video data on your camcorder(memory card or hard disk) are not written over. And the best way is to try some video recovery software, here are some for your options. Both programs can also recover photos and music.

First of all you need to install the program on your computer (choose the right version based on the operation system you are running), then connect your camcorder (memory card or HDD) to the computer and start to recover your deleted videos.

One More Tip: Your should act as soon as possible and before the deleted videos are recovered, better not take more videos in case overwritten situation will happen.

You'll need a program that can scan for .mpg files. Unfortunately, many file recovery programs do not detect this type of file and it doesn't look like the Wondershare program that had been suggested does either.

The lost videos were initially stored in the memory card. Just take the card out of your camera and inert it to your computer with a card reader. Run a video recovery program on your computer to scan and recover lost files. If you're a Mac user, feel free to try this video/photo recovery app.

Hi ihad the same problem as you. I did a search for free ware and ended up down loading free-undlete. It really was free. It took about 10 mins to download another 10 to search once my sonydcr-sr42 was hooked up. it was located in drive (f) and another 10 for all videos that could be retrived to pop up and then depending on the size 5- 20 mins to recover the videos. good luck. this was done yesterday 11/13/08.

Hi im julian im having sony handycome ....while recording ...suddenly power cut its automatically switched off .....then we try to run in a battery, when on the cam...saying data not recovered.....

can any one help me on this ...how to solve this problem....
