SOURCE: washer shakes

Hi,
If the drum moves about wildly during use, then the chances are the dampers need replacing.
These are exacly like the shock absorbers on cars (only smaller) and reduce the vibrations from the drum.

Without them, and just relying on the support springs, the drum will bounce about untill it breaks a hose - often banging the sides during slowing down from a spin.

It is also possible a support spring has come off or broken - this will cause the drum to sag when first loaded.

Both are replacable items with the back / top off.

Drum noisy and appears to be jumping all over the place

There is a three-legged yoke that is behind the spinning drum. Sounds like it's on it's last leg, and will soon comletely break off. Big do-it-yoursef job, suggest repairman or new machine with warranty.

CHECK TO SEE IF W/MASHINE is properly leveled, you can do this with a spirit level, from front to back then side to side, with level on top of machine, then adjust the feet accordingly,if it still does it,check to see if the drum bearing is worn, switch machine off, open the door and with your hand at the top of the drum try and lift the drum up and down ,you should not feel any movement,if there is the bearing probably needs replacing

The washing machine is leaving a residue on the clothes. It appears that the dark residue may be coming from the seam in the bottom portion of the drum but I really can't pinpoint the exact...

What you probably have is a build-up of scrud in the machine as a result of an interaction between the fabric softener and the detergent. This flakes off and marks the clothing.
Buy a commercially available cleaner for your machine for this purpose of do one or two cycles using a bottle of white vinegar in the tub without detergent. Clean the machine out doing another cycle using baking soda directly in the drum. Repeat this process if there are still any indications of scrud.
Take care that you use the correct amount of detergent in your machine according to load and water level and do a cleaning run about every 25 wash cycles to clear away any excess detergent that was not caught by the rinse.

Machine is making clanking and grinding noise during wash cycle drum does not appear to be turning. does not make this noise if ran without items in wash and drum turns with no items in the wash

You may have a problem with bearing. Place your hand inside the drum and see if you can move it up and down. If the drum can be moved up and down, you have a severe bearing problem that will require a technician to tear down the unit and replace the bearing and drum assembly. It's a very expensive job.
Good luck

Drum is banging on wash cycle.

Hi

I am not too familiar with KitchenAid products as we dont have them in Australia. However most front load washing machines have the same basic set up.

Open the top hatch and also the back panel. Check the suspension springs on top of the drum and also the shock absorbers underneath the drum.

Make sure they are ok and non has come off or broken during the move.

Also make sure that the counter balance bricks or blocks are not brocken or loose.

Good luck.

Kenmore top load washer will not fill on rinse cycle

Hi, It does sound like the contacts in the water level switch are sticking. This switch is activated by presure not vaccum. You can try and bow into the hose leading to the level switch and see if it has any restriction but, it is more likely the level switch is going bad.
Do you have any problem on the initial starting of you wash cycle?
Let me know if this helps at all or I can answer any more questions.

Thanks

Frigidaire fwx833as2 getting water on floor in wash cycle

Actually there are three fairly common causes for this:

The machine may not be properly leveled, and will go out of balance when spinning, no matter how carefully you load it. The drum tilts to one side and sloshes over the gasket at the top.

The pump might be blocked up badly, causing the water to not drain adequately, which can cause the water to be forced upward and out due to the building centrifugal force. These machines are designed to drain as they spin at a fairly steady rate. If something interferes with the draining, but doesn't slow the spin down, this can result.

Finally, the maximum water level switch (sometimes also called an overflow prevention switch, among other names depending on manufacturer) may be faulty. Normally your water level is controlled by the load size selector. However, on some machines the maximum load size setting is actually limited only by the overflow prevention switch. If yours is one of those, this could explain your problem.

Water level

The level of water in the drum is controlled by a pressure switch. This switch is attatched to the drum via an air tube which pushes air into the pressure switch as the machine fills with water. There could be a blockage in the pressure chamber attatched to the drum or the pressure switch is faulty.
