Do you know the cost? What's the difference between Samsung Eternity II a597? What's the difference between between Samsung a950 cell phone? go to message setting>> sending profile>> type/format

here you can see many options like "text,pagging,email,fax etc"

now select "text" then change/ok

1. Power off the phone
2. Hold down the begin call and end call buttons (green & red)
3. Press and hold the power button
4. Once the phone's status LED turns red, "RELEASE" the power button but KEEP the other 2 pushed. Very important to do this !!!!!
5. You will get a prompt to press the space key to format, or any other key to continue

Your best bet would be to take it to a local mobile store to unfreeze it. You should've got it unlocked while in the US by calling AT&T and you could have done it for free. Sorry.

Try this, I had a the same problem as you guys + found this on a web forum. Quite a frustrating problem to have, It fixes the phone, but after a while you have to do this over again. I am wishing I never bought this phone, even though the reviews were really great.

Unplug usb cable from phone

Type *#52828378# into phone

this comes up

1 Trace setting
2 OTA type setting
3 Serial test
4 TFS reset

select 3 serial test

this comes up

1 PPP UP
2 Serial download
3 Run TCK

Select 2 Serial download

Phone will reboot.
Once rebooted, connect usb cable and pc studio will now work.

I had a similar problem a few months ago. A friend of mine suggested that I turn off my phone, take the battery out and then the sim card out (the little card that says either CINGULAR or AT&T) on the back. Blow some air to try and get the dust out and put everything back on, then turn on the phone again.

It worked!!
