  • I cannot confirm weather your fridge had reversible doors as you listed no model but the standard for fridges that can reverse the door swing are changed by doing this -
  1. You will see little plastic covers on the opposite side where the hinges and handles are currently located now.
  2. There are some little clips that hinge the screws on the top and bottom of each handle.
  3. Remove these little covers with a small flathead screwdriver.
  4. Now remove the screws holding the freezer and refrigerator handles on.
  5. Now pop the screw hole covers on the side of the frig/freezer you will using.
  6. Now place and fasten with screws the handles on the other side of the frig/freezer door.
  7. Now remove the top freezer hinge first by removing the 3 screws on top.
  8. Now pull up on the hinge (save the spacer).
  9. Now pull up on the freezer door.
  10. Now remove the screws on the middle hinge.
  11. Now pull up and remove the middle hinge while holding the frig door steady (save the spacer).
  12. Now pull up on the frig door and set to the side.
  13. Now remove the screws on the bottom hinge (save the spacer).
  14. Now put the screw hole covers you removed from the other side in the screw hole exposed from the screws you just removed.
  • The switch
  1. Start with the bottom hinge and place it on the opposite side (don't forget the spacer).
  2. Place the frig door on the bottom hinge and the place the middle hinge in the hole at the top of the frig door.
  3. Fasten the middle hinge.
  4. Place freezer door on the middle hinge.
  5. Put the freezer door in it's natural position to make putting the top hinge on possible.
  6. Screw the top hinge in.
  7. Job complete.
Regards, Tony

How do I reverse the doors on my whirlpool ET18NK

There are screws on the top and bottom of the doors & fridge itself, look for the rubber(sometimes plastic) caps covering them. Just reverse the screws to the opposite side you prefer. USUALLY REQUIRES 2 people to reinstall

How to remove doors of a whirlpool 6vmw47 top mount fridge/freezer

Hello Hicherringto,

I understand that you would like instructions on how to remove the doors on your fridge. Most common on top mount freezers/fridges you need to start at the top and work your way down.

1. Locate the freezer hinge top part where the door swings.
2. Remove the plastic cover over the henge. (top of the box if covered)
3. Remove the screws holding the henge in place.
4. Lift up on the henge
5. Open the freezer door and lift up (the door should lift off the bottom pin)
6. Open the Fridge door and remove the screws from the hinge that the freezer door sat on
7. Remove the hinge from the fridge door by lifting up
8. Open and lift up on the fridge door
9.Reinstall in reverse

That is the easiest way to remove the doors on a top mount freezer fridge. Note that when you reinstall the doors you will have to adjust the hinges so that the seals seal properly. The hinges have enough of a grove that you use them to adjust the doors.

Need kit to convert my whirlpool fridge from rhs to lhs hinge

hi,
you may not have to buy anything, on most reversible door installations you just use the same hardware, just turn the hardware upside down or the other way around, same with the handles. look at the hinges closely, on the other side of the door is plastic caps, you just remove them and reinstall the door starting from the very bottom hinge. If there is a kit Im sorry, but Ive never had to buy any sort of kit and Ive done at least 10 fridges..

I was given a Whirlpool ET1FTK 20.8 cu ft refrigerator/freezer. Door frame going thru is 29 inches. Need to take off doors of fridge to get in house. Anything you can send me. Don't have any of the books...

Start at the top and remove the hinge (5/16 socket). Slip the door off and remove the center hinge. Slip the lower door off and remove the lower hinge. Now is the time to reverse the door swing if it needs it. Move the handles to the other side and reassemble with hinges on the other side if you do.

Panel between fridge and freezer very hot and no sound at all

Hi: Its just a coincidence you noticed it then. It is usually hot. It's the reverse side of the refrigerant (the hot side.) If you lived in a humid area the fridge would sweat. Water would run down between the doors. I live in a dry climate so no worries. Older fridges used an electric heating element to keep them dry. They also had an energy saver switch to turn it off. As Whirlpool uses the hot side of the refrigerant they don't use additional power to run the heater. Actually the heater is called a mullion heater. Nothing is wrong with your fridge. I'll look over my shoulder for angry retailers. Hope this helps, Jeff.
