How to install a hard drive for dell inspirion m5030

This model laptop came with a 60Gb hard drive and it will work with a 40Gb hard drive.
If it was me I would install a 60 Gb hard drive not a smaller one.

Who replaced? You? What OS is on the HDD?

First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

If you disabled the keyboard in the BIOS then you need to enable it in the BIOS again.

If the laptop is frozen randomly, the problem would be the memory of the laptop-probably RAM memory, but it could also be the hard drive. Download Memtest utility, and test your ram modules to see if they are ok. Apart from that, check if the laptop freezes when it's connected to the main power, it could be related to an electrical short circuit.

This is a Hard Drive error. If your unit is under one year old, you can get the drive replaced by Dell.
The drive can be accessed outside the laptop to retrieve the data, but it may fail all together very soon.
If you have no data on it, just get a new Hard drive installed. Dell should be able to replace the drive and start the system restore for you.
