Canon MP470, Printer feed grabs two or three sheets of paper or grabs only one and jams. Result = no print capability because of paper feed. I have been told that it would be cheaper to replace than fix. I, however, do not want one of the newer printers with five color cartridges. The black and tri-color cartridge arrangement has worked well for less money.

Your feeder wheels need to be cleaned, open it up yourself from diagrams online, locate the feeder wheels, remove them, clean them with rubbing alcohol and a lint free rag, that will take care of the problem, if however the wheels are worn or how chips in them, then you can order the replacement parts

SOURCE: new cartridge won't print

re-seat the black cartidge, do head cleaning, get a windows test page (go to printers and faxes then right click on the printer icon and choose properties, click the print test page button).
replacing ink cart is the next step or service.

SOURCE: cannon MP210 printer

I tried this and it worked (thanks to a suggestion from someone else but can't find his name right now) --

I found a slender piece of cardboard, the front off one of my 1-subject notebooks. I cut the jagged edges off, made sure there wasn't any debris or loose crumbs of paper. Put about 20 sheets of paper into the printer and put this cardboard as the first sheet. Pressed the copy button. When it started to attempt to feed, I forced it through.

What did it find?? A moth had flown into the printer at some time, gotten smushed, smashed and stuck -- and was preventing the paper from feeding through! OMG, I almost tossed this Canon MP210 in the garbarge.

So thanks to you guys with ideas about cardboard and a little muscle. I ran another piece through just to clean out all the stickiness (and the remnants of the moth's body). Works fine now.

I have a Canon Pixma iP1900, it will initially grab the paper but then the paper will just stop but the printer will continue while the paper doesn't move. Then when I cancel the printing it tells me that...

Hello -

From Support information I found on the Canon website, the paper feed rollers of your PIXMA iP1900 may need cleaning.

Source:
https://www.canon.co.uk/support/consumer_products/content/faq/?itemid=tcm:14-609974

The feed roller cleaning function allows you to ckean the paper feed roller. perform feed roller cleantng when there are paper particles sticking to the paper feed roller and paper is not fed properly.
The procedure for cleaning the feed rollers is as follows:

1.Prepare the printer
Remove all sheets of paper from the rear tray.
2.Open the printer driver setup window
3.Click Roller Cleaning on the Maintenance tab
The confirmation message appears.
4.Execute paper feed roller cleaning
Make sure that the printer is on and click OK.
Paper feed roller cleaning starts.
5.Complete paper feed roller cleaning
After the rollers have stopped, follow the instruction in the message, load three sheets of plain paper into the rear tray, and click OK.
Paper will be ejected and feed roller cleaning will be completed.

Best wishes.

Non-printing, semi-jamming, printer

so since the jam your printer hasn't been working properly. I would think that the jam caused the printer to crash. I would say to get a different printer. The cheapest place i can think of is best buy because they have printers under $100

When printing, the sheet of paper always gets jammed.

check the wheels that pull the paper through. sounds like only 1 is grabbing. see if it fell off track

When the printing starts the paper jams in the paper tray

Normal 0 I suggest you get a sheet of Card Stock (Heavy paper) and place it in the feed way. Then press the print button applying a slight amount of pressure on the Card Stock so it will feed through the printer. The reason for this, is in some cases I have been able to clear the paper track of debris that was deposited there over time.
Worth a try, as I have fixed a number of printers this way, saving costly repairs.
Hope this helps. Bud

Not feeding

Have you still getting the problem, have you done cleaning of Cartridge, its nozzle and Contact strip.. then cleaning of Printer roller or carriage rack.. Do a Service of it or get it done by Technician.

Also check the feeder tray.. to grab paper one by one by printer.. Manually

Take all updates for printer and OS.
