I have a JVC AL-A158 turntable, just got it from a thrift store for $13. Cosmetically, it's brand new. No scratches, no scuffs, no nothing it's even still got the plastic on the 45 record adjustment, and I have a brand new Audio Technica cartridge and stylis on it. But every time I go to play a record, my needle just slides across the record.

2 things, make sure the back arm weight is adjusted correctly,, allowing enough pressure to be placed on the record, if that doesn't help, you have a chip in the needle thats not visible to the naked eye,

I have a JVC turntable (AL-A155TN/AL-A155TNX). I haven't used it in about ten years. I hooked it up today. I played four records on it. Two were fine. The other two, however, started off fine

The only thing that might cause something like that is a build up of static. You can buy anti-static products for records and turntables. I tend to use an anti-static spray which also cleans the records.

How to replace belt in jvc turntable

I just got a JVC turntable from a thrift shop today and as soon as I got it home the belt broke. I had a replacement but couldn't figure out how to install it. After taking off the back, which is about 4 screws plus the 4 feet and the grounding screw, I saw a very tiny set screw on the post where the spindle obviously is. I removed this and the table came right off so I could replace the belt. I couldn't get the tiny set screw back but figured I didn't need it and if I ever have to replace another belt, I won't have to take the back off anyway. I hope this helps.
