Good day!

Please read my solution on how to fix your problem.

This are the steps on how to do a D.I.Y troubleshooting:

  1. Remove the cover of your DVD player.
  2. Look at the DVD or CD tray assembly.
  3. Remove the whole CD tray assembly by loosening all screws at the left and right corner of the CD tray assembly and also you need to remove the front panel of the ejecting tray to get the whole CD tray assembly away from the DVD player for further repair and check-up.
  4. After that, look at the bottom of the DVD or CD tray and try to find out where's the motor that controls the ejecting tray.It is usually have a rubber O-ring or mini rubber belt that control the gear of ejecting tray
  5. Next, when you found the ejecting motor.Try to look at the rubber O-ring or mini rubber belt condition,if it is cut, loosen or disconnected from the motor.
  6. If the rubber belt is in good condition, check the ejecting motor. There are 2 ways of testing the motor, first the resistance checking-you should have a ohmmeter or multimeter (resistance or ohm range) point your (+/-) test prove to the terminal of the motor to measure the resistance.Secondly the actual testing-this procedure you need a battery 3vdc,connect the negative(-) terminal of the battery on the black wire of the motor and the positive(+) is connect to the red wire.If the motor is not spin-up replace it with the same type, rating, voltage and value.
  7. If you already done this procedure and the problem is still there after you replace the defective parts,if any.The problem could be the motor ejecting driver that found on the main board. This is not for D.I.Y because of the parts inside main board is very sensitive and hard to replace. If the trouble is on the main board you have to replace the whole main board or buy a new player.

I hope this solution could help you to fix your problem and enhance your knowledge about this.
Thank you for using FixYa.If you have a comment, feedback and testimony regarding this solution please feel free to post it!.Good luck!

Hi,
You have to check the try loading belt of you dvd. if the belt is loose or broken the will not be ejected. you can see only OPEN in the display. You can simply check is it related to belt. Power on the dvd player and then press the eject button. Place you ear on the top of the player and listen is there is any humming sound (sound of motor running). If you hear the sound then the belt have some problem.if there is no sound then the problem is related to the electronic part which drives the motor. if so you have to change the mother board of you dvd player. Because the all the parts in it are smd( surface ***** device) also the availability of the part is very rare. Also you have to consult the sony authorized servicing center to repair the same.

If you here the sound then you Can rectify the problem by replacing the belt. Normally you cant see the belt from the top of the mechanism. Because it is beneath the tray. you can see it only if the tray is in eject position.

Remove the top cover of your dvd player. As it is sony dvd player you can eject the tray manually. for that watch the bottom of your dvd player. You can see a slot closed by a plastic strip just bottom of the mechanism. Pull out the plastic strip. Watch through the slot. you can see a Noach which you can move manually to the left and right. put a screwdriver in it and pull the Noach to the side. the try will get ejected. Not fully but partially. You have to pull out the tray fully manually.
If you closely look at the inner end side of the try then you cn see a motor and belt. if the belt is loose it will be in there in the motor pulley and in the wheel. if its broken broken then you have to find it where it . Take the belt as sample and bring a new one. you will get the belt at any of the electronic spare parts shop near you. Put the new belt in the position. inset the tray by pushing it in to inside slowly. power on the dvd player and the press the eject button.
ok

If you are using the s-video jack to connect the DVD to the TV, the jack could be loose or the wire could be bad. The s-video cable has 2 signals, the black-and-white (luminance) and the color (chroma). If the chroma signal is not getting through, the picture will be in black and white.

SOURCE: Sony CD/DVD Player DVP-NS50P not playing my avi files DVD+RW

You need to convert avi files to dvd format before burning, otherwise the player won't recognize them. Google "avi to dvd" and you'll find a number of free or pay programs that will do the conversion for you.

SOURCE: Only black and white

If you are playing different region dvds, they can be of different color formats also
(US = NTSC, Europe = PAL). If your television is not multi-format then non-compatible
DVDs will play black and white. The solution is to purchase a mutli-format TV (accepts
both PAL and NTSC formats)
