No
long answer.
kids(how old 7 or 17?)
I like that word "only" hahahahahahahaah
the above not ready for any top $60 game
but then again, you can run 10,000 cheap old slow games.
why not tell the user, what games,
usually the price tells you the system resourced needed to run
it , and for sure each game you run tells you that too, in the spec page of the game.
the word gaming really means nothing,. see>?
example 2 games.
Windows, solitaire. runs on any pc. made
steam game, say, Call of duty, Infinate warfare (hopeless)
or an online, game, running JavaScripts.
like this endless thing.

so what game. if you told 1 game, or some future games
answers more correct can he told.
its like fishing
for what?
Sardines
or sharks.
before you say I dont have a desk?
buy a desktop , most can be maxed out far better than any laptop made.
then put i a huge PSU and fast GPU card.
8 gigs of ram
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 2GB / AMD
or faster card PCE-express x16
get real HP not Compaq.
get a HP Z600 (or z400)
and max that out.
upgrade the GPU card. and game.
the z400 may need a upgraded PSU, 600w or more. for max gaming with max GPU.

Honestly no not good for gaming but it really depends on the games. originally for windows XP Basic. https://www.cnet.com/products/compaq-presario-media-center-v6101us-15-4-mobile-sempron-3400-plus-win-xp-mce-512-mb-ram-80-gb-hdd-series/specs/

Ok I take it you still have an internet connection, If you do open your device manager and you should see some yellow question marks by some devices, Now select the ones with the marks by them and make sure you are on line and right click and select update drivers, that should get you up and running if it does not write back here and tell me what is missing and I will find them and get them to you, But I am pretty confident that doing the update it should reload and find what you need... Thanks
SOURCE: IBM ThinkPad T40 2GB Max RAM
The T40 has two ram slots, you can put a 1g chip in each totaling 2g. If the chip will remove, then it is changeable. Vista needs a minimum of 256 to run, so, when you change BOTH chips to equal 2g it will probably read 1.744g, or it may read the full 2g. If it only reads 1g, then the second slot under keyboard may have malfunctioned. It could also be that the 256 chip is bad and your really only running 512 now. With all that said, in order to achieve 2g, you will need to put a 1g chip in each slot.

Your laptop's memory is upgradeable to 384MB. The rest of your PCs specifications can be found HERE.
