Dell Studio 1747 Laptop Computer (Intel Core i7 720QM 500GB4GB) (dnpctp31) PC Notebook Logo
Posted on Apr 29, 2011

My year old Dell Studio 17 (1747) took a long time to boot. I did the 8 second power down and restarted. It took a couple times of pushing the button to get it running. Once it went into the startup routine I got an error screen to start repair mode. I kept telling me to use ChkDsk. It did not recognize that command. Using F8 to go to Safe Mode and Command Prompt after starting with the installation disk the drive seems to not have any data listed. Using a Linux machine, a friend could locate the data but it could not be accessed. Thanks, Ron

Dell Studio 1737 --power button is broken. Is there another way to power it on?

friends ... i discovered a way that you can power on the dell studio 1535 easily ...

first of all you know the power button .. it's now working ( or stuck )
in the other side of the labtop, there's a wifi button, when the labtop is already shutten down, you can press it and it will give a light then shuts down the light in the button, that means that it gives power, now to complete the process you should know the touch button in the left side that means Dell MediaDirect ( touch control button of the dell studio ) ..

ok, Now, do exactly what i'm telling you :)

1- when the computer is shutten down, plz press the wifi detector button one press
2- it will give a light then shuts then gives light again for a longer time.
3- when giving the first light for a short time, do not wait, press the media touch button quickly, continuesly and separetly.
it it doesn't work ... try it for many times tell you know when exactly to press the media touch button

then you'll see that the labtop starts as if it was in sleep :)
thanks :)

Compaq Presario V2000 will not boot.

Remove the battery and just leave it off the computer, then plug in the power cord and try it. If it works with no battery...the battery is completely dead and you need to replace.

Please help us start our Furby. It's never been used.

I just purchased an older Furby in a box too. It also wouldn't start up, even after I reset it several times and put in different batteries. Finally I just set it aside, with the batteries still installed, and it started up by itself about 30 minutes later. After it went to sleep I pushed on it's head to restart it, but it needed to be picked up and restarted by pushing the bottom a couple of times. I "fed" it until it "burped", and it seems pretty energetic now. :-)  Hope this works for you.

Keeps turning off

Sounds like a hardware failure. Possilbly the motherboard, more than likely, the power supply.
But then - maybe neither.
Shut it off completely, once you restart, start hitting the F8 key ( once a second ) until you see the " Safe Mode" choices screen. Drop down and select the " Last known Good Configuration" option and hit enter.
If this doesnt work, try the same proceedures ( restart - F8 ) but this time select safe mode - at the top of the list.
If you sucessfully boot in safe mode, you have a system file problem that could be virus related, file table corruptions or registry problems or all combined.

Dell Dimension 5150 starts up on its own!!

Check the power cable for some defect. It may have been twisted and the wires inside broken. Try using an alternate power cable and see how it goes.
