We just bought one of these for our son as well. Put it together, charged it and it simply wouldn't work. After having my father in law who is basically an Electric technician take a look at it, he found loose connections, most notably on the little part that you plug the charger into (the charging diode). After re-soldering a major loose connection found on this part, it completed the circuit for the bike and it started to work.
Best thing to do in this case is that you check all connections in the body of the bike (you can turn it over and take out all the screws on the bottom to get to the major board under the main power and direction switches). But for us the main problem was where the charger plugs in.
Like most Chinese products, these were put together way too quickly and not checked for quality before being put into a box. However, after a little TLC from someone who knows about electric stuff, it is now a great fun toy for our little boy :-)
The solution to your problem lies in one of the following three areas:
1.) Your charger is faulty and is therefore not able to pass power to your laptops battery.
2.) The charging connector on the laptop has come loose from the contacts. Therefore a bad connection.
3.) Your battery is faulty.
I think possibility 2 is the most likely, although you will have to test possibility 3 by removing the battery and plugging in your charger and seeing if the laptop powers on.If it does power on then that rules out possibility 1 and 2 leaving a faulty battery.
Is the new cord/charger/transformer the EXACT same power specs? When your "dog ate your charger", it may have shorted out something in the Laptop? Was it plugged it when your dog ate it?
This is a common problem. It may be that the charger is dammaged. these Dell chargers have a micro thin communication cable in them that tell the charger to charge the battery. this micro thin cable can often break. Its use it to prevent the laptop battery from over charging, but if it breaks or becomed broken inside tha charger cable, then the laptop simply won't get the charge signal and the battery won't charge. If this is the case, then you will need to replace the charger with another Dell charger compatible with your laptop
Are you sure your battery charger is working correctly. Have you tried it on another battery? Possibly, there is a wiring problem, or your battery is the type that needs distilled water - Try another known good and charged battery with your scooter before purchasing a new one to ensure that the wiring is not faulty.
If new batteries did not solve the problem, the next thing to check would be the battery terminal.
If
the battery terminal is rusty, the battery power won't contact and the
calculator won't turn on. So, use a flat small screw drive to scratch
the battery terminal so that there would be contact.
If the above
is not the problem, the next to check would be the wire connecting the
battery terminal to the the calculator's main board. There is a wire
between the battery terminal and the calculator board. When the battery
is inserted, the power from the battery goes from the terminal to the
board through this wire. There is a possibility that this wire is cut
in-between or is loosing contact. In this case, you need to get a small
screw driver and carefully disassemble the calculator in order to check
the wire.
If the wire is intact, use a light brush to brush the calculator board as there might be dust on the board.
If non of the above helps, then it means the calculator is dead and needs a replacement.
this has happened to me before. the battery is probably dead. so you so buy a car charger and plug it in and the power should be restored since the car battery is powerful. i did it and it worked easily.
There is probaly a loose connection from the input for the charger.
but sometimes thats not the problem.
This happenned to me before , and I just called the company that made the laptop, and they said to just buy a new battery instead of going through the trouble of trying to repair it, which would take about 15-$ and 2 weeks. I would just buy a new battery for about 30$.
