I have a small, 4-burner gas stove; no wondow in the oven door. I think my stove had a mouse infestation. I think the insulation above the oven has mouse urine in it; I can smell it, although there is no sign of mouse activity. How do I either remove the smell, or replace the insulation above the oven?

It is common for mice to get into the oven box insulation and nest. I had this problem before and its not likely you'll be able to get rid of the odor without replacing the insulation. Another issue is any fecal matter the mice leave behind. This can become a health hazard (expecially in an appliance that you use to prepare food). I would recommend replacing the insulation. If the model oven is correct, the insulation can be purchased for around $20 at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

The part number will depend upon your COMPLETE model number (located on a nameplate around the oven door opening, or lower drawer opening (if equipped). On some models, the model number will appear on the back of the operator console. The first three sites on the list include exploded view parts illustrations to assist you with locating and properly indentifying any parts you may need. The insulation for the Magic Chef 31000 series is listed under the "Body" parts list.

To replace the insulation on MOST ranges, all you should have to do is lift the range top to access the oven box. The top on most ranges can be lifted by removing a series of screws that are usually holding it secure under the bottom of the front edge. You will need to open the oven door to see them. CAUTION: Do not lean on the oven door as this may cause damage to the door hinges and springs.

On the Magic Chef 31000 series, it appears that you will need to remove the burner control knobs, followed by screws holding the burner control control panel in place. You should also remove all the orifice covers and burner grates from the top of the range. Once the burner control is removed, remove the top panel, followed by the burner box top panel. The insulation will be wrapped around the oven box. It should just lift out. Depending on the potential infestation, you may want to wear a dust mask and use a vaccum to **** up any loose debris. CAUTION: Turn off the gas supply BEFORE attempting any repairs - if this is a gas range.

If you have questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Replace insulation in Kenmore stove

These are usually easy enough to take apart if you have have a well lit large room to work in, and take photos of what you remove as you go along.

First get it in a space where you can walk around it. Remove all SMALL screws from the back and wiggle panels as you go to see where they loosen and are still fixed by other screws. Take a sequence of digital camera pics as you go. You are trying to replace the insulation in the back and sides so you only need to remove the outer panels, not take the whole thing apart.

Vulcan oven pilot light how to relight

Hello Lynne,
To relight the pilots, start by removing the floor of the oven, then remove the small access panel below the doors. On the main oven burner will be a small pilot burner that probably looks something like this 10_26_2011_9_29_16_pm.jpg
on the gas valve behind that small panel under the doors will be a red button, push that red button and hold it in while lighting that pilot burner...continue tohold that red button for 30 seconds, release it and the pilot should be lit.
Good luck,GENE

I am looking at an Inglis range, approximately $479.00 and am wondering if the insulation in the oven door is less than a more expensive stove would have.

Where is the pilotlight on a ge xl44 gas stove I belive it is in the door under the oven well I turned the gas on and stuck a flame down there and nothen took off is there a certian place to put the flame....

In general lets be clear. The OVEN pilot is located under the oven door at the top of the Broiler. It is a small piece of metal just before the GAS safety Valve which acts on temperature so gas won't flow unless Pilot is lit,That's the OVEN PILOT.The stove's RANGE is the top burners where you heat Pots and Pans.It has either 2 Pilot lights that connect the burners to the Flame they are under the Range Top.Newer Models use electronic ignitions no flame. Please note if you had your stove/oven disconected or Gas off when you turn it back on there will be air in the line that needs to escape before you light. This is why in NYC when Utility Co.works on steet main the MUST re-light your appliances.Be Careful with Gas.Good Luck.

I believe there is a mouse nest in the insulation of my whirlpool ceramic stove top, how do I remove the stove top to clean it out?

Open the oven door and locate the screws under the bottom of the front edge of the cook top. Remove the screws and the cook top should lift up. If the range is not equipped with any kind of hinge supports, the top will have to be propped up.

If there is evidence of any rodent infestation, make sure you do a thorough inspection of all internal wiring. Mice love to chew on wire insulation. Any bare wires can result in appliance failure, electric shock, or become a fire hazard. Make sure you do not use the range until repairs are made if there are signs of any wire damage.

NOTE: Ensure you also check the wiring inside the operator console. Remove the back panel to access.

If you have questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Oven beeping f1 and f3

Here are the error codes for your range:

F1 Circuit board defective Replace control board F2 1. The oven temp has risen above 665F and the door is not locked or
2. The temp has risen above 965F with the door locked 1. Check oven temp in mode that failure occurred. Replace EOC (Electronic Oven Control) if above limits
2. Check 8-pin connector. Check and replace oven temperature sensor if necessary F3 Oven temperature sensor is open (above 3000 ohms) Check resistance of oven temperature sensor, check for open wiring between oven temperature sensor and control F4 Oven temperature sensor is shorted (below 500 ohms) Check resistance of oven temperature sensor, check for shorted wiring between oven temperature sensor and control F5 Internal watchdog circuit has detected a failure Defective EOC (Electronic Oven Control) F6 Shorted buttons Check push buttons and dome switches on control F8 Logic interrupted (lock motor switch sequence) Check door lock switches and wiring

Most likely problem is the oven temp. sensor. Should check around 1100 ohms at room temp. I would replace that first because it is the easiest and cheaper than an oven control.
