Hi, Please confirm tv model number as question shows its Mitsubishi WS-55511 rear projection tv. This info will help me to suggest a solution. Do you get correct colors in picture though its over size? Thanks.
No,need to diagnose. It a 100% convergence problems.Convergence problems very easy diagnose. The picture look like 3D,colors lines don't lines up.Fuzzy, out of focus.Convergence controls don't work to lines up any colors cross. The tech is cheating u if he said cost $125 to diagnose. If u know how to solders u could fix this convergence problems about $100.U can buy a convergence kit at Websites Tv repair World.com,Tvrepairkits.com.The shop everythings fix parts and labors only $300.
There is an option in the user menu on the tv. Using either the remote or control panel on the front of the tv, press MENU then select SETUP. After you choose SETUP go to the 3rd column with the 3 icons. Here you can adjust the red or blue color or reset the convergence back to factory default.
After a few years the set will begin to show increasing problems with the convergence settings. When you can no longer adjust either red or blue horizontally or vertically an IC replacement will be needed. Your set uses (1) SANYO stk393-110 and you want to make sure it's SANYO and not a knock off brand as those usually fail prematurely.
Yes, it can be repaired, replace convergence out chips (two ICs) on main board. If you are not comfortable with TV repair or have no experience, call local tech to fix it. Cost of repair would be $180 or so.
Hi, Post shows its Mitsubishi WS-55511 TV, if that's correct then check convergence section for dry solder joints and resold these joints. Specially check convergence out ICs pins. Below is an exploded image of main board of TV and convergence area is marked to have an idea... Let me know if problem remains to check further options. Thanks.
Sounds like you have bad Convergence Output IC > 267P155010 > STK393-110, replace and it will correct the problem TV uses only ONE, make sure all resistors look good in the circuit around IC.
Good Luck, big IRISH.
MetCom, you can use a video game on any rear projection big screen, heres the issue you DO have to be aware of, if you PAUSE the video game for prolonged periods of time it will PERMANENTLY damage all 3 picture tubes in the tv, so heres the trick, when you need to pause the game for more than 2-3 minutes just shut the tv OFF, you`ll never hurt the tubes this way because they aren`t on, when you come back to the game turn on your tv, un-pause the game and "life is good", been doing it for years and I`m a tv tech so trust me and now you know the real answer, pass it on to others and enjoy, BMW Rider
