I've had my hard drive for a while now and was using it today during class, but during tutorial (30 minutes) i lent it to my friend and now the light is flashing and it will no longer register on any computers. My friend said that it never worked on his computer either, but i ejected it properly, so i'm not sure why it's not working. Help please? This hard drive contains all of my valuable computer information!

If your computer came with a motherboard disc the drivers could be on it
click start control panel administrive tools ,computer management ,device manager look through all of your devices if you see a yellow question mark?or exclamation mark ! or red x
right click to reinstall drivers or
if you can see your usb but its not working
ports(com&lpt)right click update driver
make sure the lead/s that attach to this drive have a secure seating and are not bad/faulty the light on only tells that its getting power it might not be getting enough power you might test the lead/s or
just replace the cable of the hard disk, when you plugged the external disk drive you got that windows could recognize the USB device change the cable everything should work fine again, sometimes the wires inside the cable will be damaged due to bending or stretching or placing heavy equipment upon the cable,
check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red-white-green-black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems
hope this helps

Major electrical problem? No previous warning.

We had this same problem after my brother hooked up jumper cables backwards.
We had to replace computer boaord under the driver side dash. I can't for the life of me remember the name of it. lol But someone who can hooked that up and get the codes can tell you if it needs to be replaced. I found mine on ebay....they are Hard to find!

SimpleDrive 500GB 96300-41001-160 shows no activity

I think you bought a piece of junk especially if you cannot hear the hard drive spin when you connect the power supply.
I suggest you get a tech savy friend to check out this hard drive for you.

Red screen

Are you talking about the "Red Screen Of Death"? There isn't to much you can do about that other than possibly changing out the Hard Drive to see if it is a corrupt file or other defect with the actual hard drive. The red screen is usually overheating of a unit because they don't a built in cooling system. Some steps you can take are.... (some you've probably tried already)
1. Turn the unit off and completely unplug it for about 30 minutes then try it again.
2. Take out the hard drive and re-insert it. Make sure all internal connections are still tightly connected.
2. Try inserting a different hard drive from a friends unit to see if it works. If it does you know it is your hard drive.

What's your problem?

Sounds like a bad/overheating hard drive or possibly the ram is defective. The hard drive may have developed bad sectors and/or delays.Overheating really seems to be a problem on the new smaller and thinner laptops. The hard drives are confined to such small area causing them to overheat and develop bad sectors and worn spindles plus disc surface damage.Try removing the hard drive and see if the beeps continue and also see if you can clean the CPU of dust and lent with compressed air with it off and unplugged.Get back to me after you try that

Smart failure predicted on hard disk 0:TOSHIBA MK4025GAS-(PM) warning :immediately back-uo your data and replace your hard disk draiver A failure may be imminent

It means that your hard drive is going to crash soon. If all of your important stuff is on there and you don't have an external hard driver or flash driver, shut down the computer until you do. Once you own another hard drive, boot back up and start the backing up process. There is a fantastic free backup program available here: http://www.fbackup.com/

One trick I've found that works is placing the hard drive in a refrigerator for 30 mins before using it. This will extend it's life by at least 15 minutes.
Good luck to you, and pleas leave me a positive rating! :)
