Check the voltage selector switch on the rear of the power supply. You may find it's set to the 220 or 240 volt position. Several times I've found the switch in the wrong position and had the same symptoms (and replaced the supply again, figuring it was defective).

Of course, if you're in an area where you have 220-volt service, this won't apply. If this is the case, or you've already checked the switch and it's set correctly, just check over your connections and make sure the power plug is firmly seated on the motherboard. If all else looks good, you may indeed have a dud replacement supply.

I have to ask: why did you replace the supply? Was it just for added capacity, or were you trying to solve another problem with the computer? The trouble you're describing can also be caused by a bad motherboard, and that may have been the trouble all along.

Good luck, and thanks for using Fixya!

Cooling fan for antec power supply pp 303xp does not come on when computer is switched on. Is this a replaceable item or do I have to buy a new power supply?

I THINK I REMEMBER reading that Antec had introduced a feature on some of their psu s where essentially the fan(s) were thermally controlled - if the psu was not working very hard it remained cool and the fan remained off but as the psu got warm with additional load it gradually increased fan speed. Perhaps this the issue you are seeing and nothing is wrong ?
PSU's are generally difficult to open and contain few accessible parts. some you can actually change the fan. I don't know about yours though.

Fans on back & bottom aren't worcking

If there's nothing wrong with your power supply or fans, on may newer computers is a temperature sensor and the fans will turn anywhere from not at all to full speed, or anywhere in between. You do want to make sure that your processor isn't overheating, however, just in case your fans aren't working. Belarc Advisor (do a google search) is a free program that will give you all sorts of info including temps if the bios supports it. (most do)

I have a computer with an Intel D845GEBu2/D845PESV mother board. One day works great, next day no longer powers up. I changed out the PS, all I get is a small green light on the mo bd that lights up...

If all you get is a green light, and no fans, hard drive spin up, nothing on the monitor, well than, it could be that the power supply is the wrong one for your computer. Either that or the motherboard is shot.
double check on the power supply, that is probably the problem.

Power supply or motherboard dell 4600

Ok, you stated that the power supply cooling fan was running at this time. unfortunately, this is not the power supply unit that has failed. the mother board has actually failed in this case. If the power unit was damaged, the cooling fan would not spin. You will need tp replace the mother board in this case. it has failed.

This is not a novice situation. we recommend a service tech for this type of repair. if it was a power supply issue, it would have been quite easy to replace but, this is not the issue here. it the mother board.

Hey man hows it going

Have you test the power supply for voltage, Is it good, if it is then the problem of course is not power supply. Some power supplies have a light on them. Also does the power supply fan work, If not almost always sure sign power supply is gone. Old power supplies are still available Every time I junk a computer P4 or older I save to power supply, What wattage?

Ensure that you got the cpu fan connected to the correct place, the board has 2 one for the cpu fan andt the other for a system controlled case fan.

If that dont work check to see you got the power supply connected to the board propperly, there is a seperate 4 pin connector using 2 yellow and 2 black wires ensure it is correct.

Check your power supply

unplug the power supply and bridge the green wire with the black one next to it to see if it comes on. OR JUST CHANGE THE POWER SUPPLY TO SEE IF IT WORKS.

YOUR PROBLEM IS A POWER PROBLEM EIGHTER FROM A BAD CONNECTION OR A WRONG HOOK UP AND IF NOT THAT A BAD POWER SUPPLY
