I had the same problem. Searched for a G3 Station image on the web and I've created an icon (*.ico file) to replace the missing one. Unfortunately windows didn't replace the missing icon withe the one I made, but at least it changed to the defaut icon for hard drives... same the OS uses forall other drives... so I guess it's ok.
Probably the reason for the missing icon is cause we deleted or moved the native files that samsung ships with the product.
Good Luck!

My G3 1,5tb station does not show up on my iMac anymore. It used to work fine, without any problems and it has only been connected to my iMac. Now it does power up, but the station does not appear on my...

Check to make sure file sharing is still on at the G3. If it is running a Server app or OS X Server, make sure File Sharing Services is up and running.
Also, check the network connections on both computers. First, open the Network System Preferences pane on the G3 and write down its IP address (Note: you should have IP addresses showing on both computers, and if they use the same router subnet, the first three parts of the IP address should be identical and the last part should be different, but still between 0 and 255. If this is not so, you have a network problem between one computer and the router or other device that provides DHCP services.).
Next, on your iMac, open the Network Utility application (in Applications/Utilities). Click the Ping tab and type in the G3 IP address, then click the Ping button. If the network is good, you should get round-trip time statistics for each ping.
If the Ping test fails, then do the following steps to troubleshoot the network. Check to see if you have link lights on for both computers at the network switch, if not, check the network cable for the unlit port. If they are connected to different switches, also check the uplink port link lights on each switch. Testing a suspect connection is most simply done by trying a known good cable, a different switch port, or another computer with a known good network interface.

My mac cannot read my Samsung G3 Station

Yeah that does sound like a potential failure in the harddrive itself. I would advise taking it to a local computer repair shop that can diagnose the hard drive. They will tell you if its failing or not. Typically these diagnostics are free depending where you take it.

Also yes encrypting hard drives are good for protecting your data from unwanted access, however when you do encrypt it and then the hard drive starts to fail, it becomes very difficult for data recovery.

Might need to check your BIOS settings and make sure you're set to USB 2.0. Also, try different USB ports on the computer. Also, make sure your drivers concerning motherboard and USB are up to date

My 2TB g3 station doesnt wanna work on my mac os x 10.4.11, it says it cannot be modified.

You problem is most likely because the hard disk is formatted using NTFS which can be read on MAC OS but does not allow writing data on it. Solution is to backup your data somewhere and give it a clean format.
Click on the spotlight icon (the magnifying glass) in the upper right corner of your screen, and typing "disk utility."

Once in disk utility, select your external drive in the list on the left of the Disk Utility window, and click "erase". Select FAT32 as your file format, name the volume, and click the "erase" option.

REMEMBER TO BACKUP YOUR DATA as everything will be wiped out during a format!

Thank you for contacting Fixya Support, I am glad to assist.

The "human face" icon is an indication that your hard drive is not being recognized by your iMac G3 because the hard drive is not formatted to read the Mac OS 9 software.

What you need to do is initialize your hard drive so you can
it can read the Mac OS 9.0.4 software.

Below, I have provided a link with simple steps to properly initialize (format) your 40GB hard drive

Initializing a hard disk, cartridge, or optical disk

Follow these steps and you will be able to successfully install Mac OS 9.0.4 to your Mac G3 hard drive.

I hope this helps.
