My Hitachi is not even two years old and the other day I was watching tv as normal, when all of a sudden i lost picture and sound. I can turn the TV on, but all that happens is the power light turns blue, blinks three times as usual (when the picture is usually loading), and then nothing happens. The screen remains blank, there is no sound, and about every 10 seconds or so the blue light blinks three times again. It is a repetative cycle, and it is driving me crazy. Is there anybody that has an idea of what might have caused this problem, or any potential solutions?

Hi...I am sorry to say that I had this exact problem. It ended up being the upper and lower panel drives. I contacted Hitachi and even though my unit was out of warranty, they agree to pay for parts. I paid for labor myself, and it cost me $199.95.

I think the key is to let them know that you are aware of others having the same problem, that you paid good money for your Hitachi product which you chose over other products, and that you are hoping they will help. The
person who authorized them paying for my parts was Keith, but I called
back and spoke with an equally helpful person afterward. I was
impressed with the customer service.
I told them that I had chosen Hitachi over other brands because I
believed in the product, but I was frustrated with my expensive plasma
failing so soon out of warranty. I also shared with them that I was
seeing several other people on this forum experiencing the same problem.

I called Hitachi and they weren't too helpful, so I was wondering at what point did they agree to pay for your panel parts (b/c I believe my warranty is outdated as well)?, My # is 919 250-8536, i would be greatly appreciative if you might find the time to call and inform me a little more on how you handled the situation.

The power turns on picture is a flash of black n white fuzz the it goes black no sound no blinking lights, any suggestions?
