I have just bought a new iMac I have attached my old M-Audio 410 to it and downloaded the driver. I am not sure but I think I may have connected the device too early as I didn't read the instructions carefully. Now when I turn on the computer I get an error message that reads as follows; Insecure Startup Item Disabled. "/library/startupitems/M-Audiofirewire audio helper." has not been started because it does not have the proper security settings. I tried to reload the driver but this did not work. I tried to uninstall the driver but i get an error message that reads The operation failed due to error 5364. I deleted the folder in /libraries/startupitems/M-audiofirewire audio helper and reloaded but this did not work either

Hi thomasind,

The error code 5364 is often caused by a corrupted driver. The easiest way to correct this is to install the latest driver. Please click the link below for you to be directed to the official download site. Select the Type and model name of your system then select the operating system that matches your computer.

M-Audio Firewire

If this does not work, the firmware of your M-audio has been corrupted. I recommend to contact M-audio, they are the only one that can provide you the instructions on how to install the updated firmware on your system.

My M-audio FireWire 410 doesn't work

It sounds like you may be experiencing a configuration issue with your M-Audio FireWire 410 audio interface. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
  1. Check the connections: Make sure that the FireWire 410 is securely connected to your computer and that all cables are properly plugged in. If the connections are loose or faulty, it can cause problems with the audio output.
  2. Restart the device: Sometimes, restarting the audio interface can resolve issues with the audio output. To do this, disconnect the FireWire 410 from your computer, wait a few seconds, and then reconnect it.
  3. Update the drivers: It is possible that the drivers for your FireWire 410 may be out of date or incompatible with your operating system. To update the drivers, visit the M-Audio website and download the latest drivers for your device. Once the drivers are installed, restart your computer and try using the FireWire 410 again.
  4. Check the settings: Make sure that the FireWire 410 is selected as the default audio device in your operating system's audio settings. You can access these settings by going to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound. Under the Playback and Recording tabs, select the FireWire 410 and click the Set Default button.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, it is best to contact M-Audio support for further assistance. They should be able to provide you with specific guidance for troubleshooting the problem with your FireWire 410.

Can I connect my apollo 2250 to my old imac?

OS X drivers for the Apollo 2250 apparently exist only in 10.5 and 10.6, both of which your iMac G4 is too old to run.
If you have this printer attached to another computer on your home network, you could activate printer sharing and allow your G4 to print to it that way.

Firewire410

You should install service pack 2, the go to the m-audio site and upgrade the drivers again. Also, since your computer most likely have a 4 pin firewire, make sure you have the power cqble for the 410 connected. Ofcourse, do not have the 410 connected when upgrade either sp2 or the drivers. make sure you power cycle both devices before reconnecting and attempting to record....
