I found that taking the battery out is the only way to get it back up. Today i took the battery out and kept it out. It hasn't shutdown for more than 3 hrs. Although this will not help when I need to be on the battery.

I have quite a bit of experience with iMac G5's, and unfortunately it probably won't get any better. The problem lies with the processor and integrated graphics, both of which are currently unsupported by the latest version of Flash Player, as well as most other web plugins and media streaming technologies.
There's really nothing you could do to the iMac to improve streaming performance. Some may say to increase the RAM (memory) to max, but honestly it's not really worth the investment of new RAM. Also, it's no guarantee that it will help that specific issue, considering it's unsupported status among what I listed above.
The screen sleep is set for a different period than the hard disk sleep. This can be changed in the Energy Saver Preference Pane. 1. Launch System Preferences 2. Select Energy Saver (its icon is a CFL bulb) 3. Select Battery or Power Adapter settings. The upper slide allows you to set the elapsed time until your computer sleeps, while the lower slide allows you to adjust the elapsed time for the display to sleep. There are several chackboxes to further refine when your computer or its display sleeps to save power.
It may be that you have a scheduled boot up set. Go to system preferences and then to energy saver in the bottom right corner there is a button named schedule click on it see if it is set for startup or wake and if it does uncheck the box. Hope this helps.

Set these for Power Adaptor and Battery separately.
Hi, Sorry you are having problems,
Sounds to me like either your energy saving preference pane is set WAY too short or it is corrupt.
Go to your system preferences and select (Energy Saver) and be sure it is set to never sleep and set the idle time to screen sleep time to about 30 minutes and be sure the button ( Shutdown instead of sleep ) is not selected... if you have that button.
Try these, then do a restart to be sure they take.
If you still have the same problem, then, your settings are corrupt, you will need to delete it:
go into your hard drive, into your user folder, into the library folder into the preferences folder and find this file:
com.apple.systempreferences.plist
put it in the trash, empty trash, restart the computer the reset your energy saver settings and you should be OK!
Have you looked into System Preferences>energy saver>schedule? Maybe it's set up to start itself. I have my mother's mac set to start up and shut down automatically. Just a thought.
Go back and check the ENERGY SAVER preference in SYSTEM PREFERENCES, there's a selectable option for both Battery and Power adapter. Your computer is smarter than you think, just dig around.
