Dyson DC 17 Asthma allergy Vacuum

While vacuuming carpet I caught the corner of a blanket with fringe. I stopped it the minute I knew something was wrong. I pulled the item out, and now the beater bar doesn't work. Is there a reset button, as the powerhead doesn't turn at all. Please help. Thanks

I just had the same problem and was waiting on the phone while I googled for the answer - yep - there it was - big ole grey reset button right by the on/off switch! Works fine how - thanks!

I had a similar issue. I called Dyson. Hey why not, the number is right on the from of the machine. SO IS the beater bar on/off button, right next to the big red on/off switch. It does have a safety off when something jams the bar from rotating so the motor doesn't burn out. I also removed my sock and on restarting the thing, the beater bar would motor was not turning on. I thought the reset would be inside but no, it is right outside in plain view, which I didn't see either. It is a grey button opposite the big red on/off switch. Boy did I feel dumb after that phone call!

There is no reset button on the dyson dc17. I don't know what they are talking about so people don't beat yourself up for not finding one. I called dyson myself and found out the other two post are bullshi*. Just an FYI

Why won't the brush turn on my Dyson DC40 Animal?

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

There are a number of reasons why your brush roller has stopped moving. General maintenance to your vacuum is crucial and will help it work at peak performance.

First things first lets focus on the brush roller. Unplug the vacuum and turn it on its side. Look for any noticeable clumps of debris or hair strands that may be caught in the brush roller. Remove these obstructions, probably best to do so with a scissor if it's hair or long pieces of carpet fibers. After removing the debris try manually rotating the brush roller to uncover other hidden clogs. Another thing to take note of is the condition of the bristles on the roll itself. Are they loose or worn down? These are signs that your brush roller is in need of replacing.

While checking out your brush roll you might as well take a look at your vacuums belt. Your belt should be replaced about every three months. After regular usage, the belt will stretch out, lessening the tension on the brush roller. Lesser tension diminishes the brush roller's turn rate and speed. If the belt feels loose then it certainly is affecting your vacuums suction as well as your brush roll not moving at all.

DC 17 Animal No suction on hand held hose

There is likely a blockage in the pipe. Try pushing something through taking care not to perforate the pipe.

The handle to a canvas bag got stuck in my DC 17 animal Dyson and now the brush won't turn.

The belt will stop itself from spinning if you accidentally picked up a shoestring or vacuumed the edged of a carpet and the carpet
got caught. To have the brush spinning again, simply step on the front of the machine, pull back the handle, turn the machine on with
the red power button and press the gray button next to the red button - that's the ON/OFF button for the brushbar. If it doesn't spin,
press and hold the button down for 10 seconds. If it still doesn't work, call the Dyson helpline, they'll have you open up the cleaner
and inspect the belt and brushbar motor and if all else fails, they'll refer you to a local repair dealer in your area to fix it.

Won't start

Did you verify that the switch did not get moved to BARE FLOOR rather than CARPET. If it is not on CARPET the brush will not spin.

Hi, I have an Electrolux Ambassador and the other day I was vacuuming a fringe carpet and the fringe made the Electrolux stop (has happened before) and when I pressed the reset button, the motor is on but the wheel does not spin. Any suggestions?

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. There are 2 possibilities that could be happening. Either the belt is broken of which you can replace the belt @ least one a year for proper maintenance or there may be a reset for the vacuum in case you get something caught in the brushroll section of the vacuum. Check both of those items and it should work unless you have a motor burn out – if you did there would be a burning smell. Feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area.

So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
