The DVR (Duo DVR VIP 722K) stalls in the playback of the recordings. This results in the receiver having to be reset to watch tv - very irritating. We have learned that it is better not to record two shows at the same time, but it is happening now when only recording one.

We just dvrs hooked up a few weeks ago.when I am recording somthing down and my daughter goes upstairs to watch her tv and tries to change her channel to watch somthing a message comes up on the tv that...

Hi, poog_23350, I caught your post! How a Duo DVR receiver works is that the TV you have it set to record on will not allow you to change the channel while the recording is in progress. The other TV, that isn't recording anything, can be used freely to flip through channels.

In this case, it's TV2, the one upstairs in your daughter's room, that's currently set to record on while the downstairs TV is free to use. This can be adjusted by pulling up the Main Menu with the Menu button on the remote, selecting option 8, then option 5, and changing the TV1/TV2 setting there on the Record Plus screen.

If you'd like a receiver capable of allowing channel changing while recording a program, our VIP 612 receiver is a Solo receiver that acts like a Duo. What this means is that it has one TV output and two tuners. Along with being able to change channels while a recording is in progress with this type of receiver, you can also record two programs on two different channels simultaneously.

Hope that helps!

The hum from my vip 722k dvr box keeps me awake at night. thank you!!

pwgasson,

Some noise from the receivers is normal as they are constantly updating the guide and checking for any software updates. How loud would you say the hum is, and is it constant or intermittent?

Can you record a program and watch live TV at the same time?

If you have a dual receiver, you can record to TV 2 and watch any program on TV 1. If you have 2 recordings taking place at the same time, you can only watch what is being recorded.

With a dual receiver, you can place the receiver in single mode and watch a different program even if 2 recording are taking place. In single mode both TV 1 and TV 2 will be watching the same program.

A solo DVR you can record to tuner 2 and watch what you want on TV 1. With the VIP 622 receiver, you have the Record Plus option, you can have all recording go to TV 2. If 2 recordings take place, then TV 1 and TV 2 are used.

Dish vip 622 and vip 722k frequent picture freeze and restart

Sounds like a signal strength issue. You may have either a low signal or something like a tree limb is blowing into the signal path dropping the signal strength to a point low enough to causes issues.

DishViP DVR cuts off recorded shows

Reset the DVR and it "found" the rest of the program recording. Not sure of the reason for the loss, but resetting works to correct it.

Playback issues

Assuming that there is no loss of signal detected by the system and an 015 message being presented onscreen and that you have adequate record time available than your hardrive in the receiver is almost gone. You will need to have the receiver replaced. When this is done you will lose all recorded programs. The Dish Vip series of receivers offer a USB port that can be used to either expand the recording capacity of a DVR receiver with an external hardrive or if you get a non dvr unit e.g. 211, 222 you can eliminate the DVR fee each month by turning the option on for the external hardrive at a one time fee of 39.99. This will save you money by not paying the dvr fee anymore and alleviate having your recordings being lost if the receiver ever goes bad. I hope this assists you and thanks for using Fix Ya.
