I have a Sony Trinitron KV-32S36 model. It's 16 yrs old. The sound works fine. When you turn tv on the picture is off center and keeps fading till there is no picture at all. Is this the tube going out?

Surely the emission of the CRT is going out.

Picture shifted to left 1/3 and left portion shows on right side 32" sony trinitron (not flat screen)

Probably caused by a failure of certain bipolar electrolytic capacitor(s) in the area of the high voltage circuit.

Yes.... u must adjust the screen voltage going to picture tube....located on the CRT module>>>little board connected directly to picture tube (take back off TV and you will see ) play around with screen control on the CRT module......can be adjusted at times to keep from losing picture!!! tube is bad...i know sure looks good when showing a picture....TRY adjusting screen voltage ( YES while TV is ON>>>CAREFULL ) gl

no ....the tube will end up after 20 yrs in 10 yr old sony...
it is worth if u fix it. randomly going black means...horizontal driver trans former is the problem..or any loose contact with the 110 volt supply to that transformer,,or any loose contact with line o/p transformer.. (horizontal driver transformer may be gone
then tv behaves like this) if any other parts gone tv wont come back.... there may be a loose contact call a service pro..

Tv shut itself off while I was watching.

The power supply will need to be replaced. You can get them for $30 plus dollars and solder them in.

Rather get a quote first , then you can decide whether you need a new set or not ?
After SONY sets work like dogs especially if you use them alot. Think about a replacement cost ?
I would say get a quote before you decide.

Television switching itself off with red light flashing.

Had same problem on a 50inch wega tv. It needed lamp replaced,not hard to replace about $180.00
from Sony.

Hello jorge and welcome to FixYa. With your particular model of television six blinks mean a Horizontal Drive Failure has occurred. If you have any television repair experience you could try checking the jungle for loose or possibly bad soldering. In some case the jungle IC was found to be defective on this model as well. You should also inspect the horizontal drive transformer windings if at all possible. If you are unable to repair this yourself I would personally say to you no it is not worth the cost to repair it as purchasing a new television would probaly be a more prudent decision.
