Samsung LN-T4671F HDMI PC hookup and Audio Problems

I am hooking my Dell PC up to my Samsung using a HDMI/DVI cable and cable coming from the sound card to two RCA phono cables connecting to the RCA ports on the TV for HDMI1. The picture is great but I get no sound. I know the sound card and cables work because I can connect them to my stereo and that works fine. Any suggestions? As a matter of fact just about all the RCA phono jacks on the TV do not work.

    Hi,

The sound card on my PC has an 1/8" mini-plug output jack. I have a stereo mini-plug cord that is coupled to two RCA phono cords that go to the TV RCA phono plugs for the HDMI1 jack that the video card is plugged to. I am not using my CD/DVD player but Windows Media to play a video file with sound. Changing the CD/DVD player to not play digital dows not effect what I am playing. The same setup plays fine going to the stereo system but I want to be able to play videos and hear the sound from the TV which has a fantastic sound system. Can you give me any other suggestions?

I have placed a service call with Samsung and hope to get a technician out this week. If anyone else has any ideas please let me know. Apparently the Samsung user guide has false information on their PC setup instructions.

Hi,

Pls bear with me, have you tried not using the HDMI/DVI cable but simple straight connection PC > Standard 15 pin VGA cable and audio cable that has "stereo mini-plug" on both ends to the PC IN of the Samsung?

You may have to connect it to the audio jack next to the VGA port of PC input as can be seen from this pic

http://review.zdnet.com/sc/32514512-2-300-DT1.gif

The PC input ports are at the top of the pic midway.

I had the same problem before and this fixed it

Hope this helps

Since HDMI carries audio and video on one cable, most TVs default to
using the HDMI inputs for the audio for that video feed. Most TVs have
some sort of setting in the setup menu where you can tell it to use
audio from a different input when you choose that HDMI input for the
    video.

Chances are the TV thinks the audio is supposed to come from
the HDMI cable, because that is the norm. I think you need to program
the TV to use a different audio source when getting from from that
    particular HDMI input.

You need to enable RCA output on your PC first.

For Windows XP, to change the audio output
to analog audio for the headphone jack or RCA connectors,
right click on "My Computer" and select "Properties".
Select the "Hardware" tab and then the "Device
Manager" button. Locate the "DVD/CD-ROM Drives"
heading and click on the "+" sign. Right click
on the selected drive. Select "Properties",
then the "Properties" tab. At the bottom of
the window, in the section titled "Digital CD Playback",
uncheck the option to enable digital audio, and select
the "OK" button. To enable digital audio,
use the same path and check the box to enable.

How can I connect a samsung bdf5900 to my hitachi rear projection tv

Your TV is probably older and has Component, Composite and DVI connectors. HDMI is a newer connector that integrates sound. If your RPTV does not have HDMI but DOES have DVI, you can get an HDMI to DVI adapter on eBay or a computer store pretty cheap. You will need another way to get the sound from the Blu-Ray player, either external speakers connected to the player, or stereo RCA cables from the player to the TV (there will be a set of RCA audio plugs with the TV's DVI port).

Dude, the hdmi is just for the video signal, you'll have to use a separate audio cable to get sound from the integrated speakers.

Audio but no video from Sony Blu-Ray w/ HDMI hookup to RX-V663

Okay...my first contribution to any forum but I have the same problem (Yamaha RX-V663 and Samsung Blu Ray) and found the solution. The problem is you probably have your HDMI cables from your DVD player and reciever connected to a DVI input on your TV. The DVI may have problems communicating--not HDCP compliant. My system was working great then I hit a button on my remote...just playing around. I think it was the pure audio and I turned off the receiver. After that, the audio worked but there was no video. After many frustrating hours, the fix was to unplug the HDMI and DVI cable then turn the power off, cycle the power again, and plug the HDMI and DVI cables back in (the DVI was the last cable plugged in, not sure if that matters). By unplugging everthing you've reset the communication between the HDMI components and the DVI TV.

See page 18 of the yamaha owners manual, second to last note on bottom right of the page. It says there may be a problem...

I also noticed that the yamaha reciever was sending 1080p (my older tv is 1080I) and that is why the video wouldn't display on the TV. You can see this in the video signal info screen, unfortunately there is no setting to switch it back, just recycle the cables and power and it should reset.

Uncredibly frustrating but I got my picture back!

Hdmi and audio

It may be the top of set box.. Most times the sound and picture are auto detected by the set when HDMI is used. Both sound and video are carried in a HDMI cable but not with a S video cable. Try another HDMI cable *** dont buy the expensive one the tv don't care if they cost $125 or $25.

Hooking up a sony playstation 3 with digital optical cable

Here's one solution, if you have an audio output from your tv, you can go from the audio output on your tv to the audio input on your receiver that way anything that is playing on your tv for example, playstation 3, dvd player etc. Anything playing on your tv will have audio on your onkyo home theater system. The other thing I would try if you want to hook ps3 directly to receiver is go to your connection settings on your ps3 menu and change your connection method to digital optical cable.
