Everytime I change the cyan cartridge I get a message that cartridge is missing or damaged. In the past I've tried everything from the solution center and manual and problem has gone away even though I can't figure out what corrected the problem. This time the message just keeps cycling through

Make sure that the cartridges sit in the correct slots. Match the shape and color of the icon on the cartridge with the slot that has the same shape and color icon.

Press down on any cartridges that you find sticking up. They should snap down into place.

If a cartridge does not snap into place, you might need to readjust the cartridge tab.

Remove the catridge and gently bend the tab away from the cartridge. Be careful not to bend the tab too much

Reinstall the cartridge into its appropriate slot until it snaps into place and seats firmly in the slot.

Check if the issue was resolved

If not, make sure that the carriage latch is closed. The latch is located athe right side of the inks. Its the color blue latch beside the black cartridge.

If its still giving the same error message. Try cleaning the electrical contacts of the cartridges.

IF this did not resolve your issue, process a repair for the printer.

Hi, do note that even if you are printing in black, the printer requires that you have installed functioning cyan (blueish), magenta (reddish) and yellow cartridges as well.

My brother CIP-J140W is only printing in cyan. I had accidentally put the cyan cartridge in the black cartridge spcae. Despite changing them around, cleanre the head etc, it is still only printing in cyan....

Oops, You really have to print, selected black, till all Cyan ink is gone. This could take a while. Cleaning the head, won't solve anything.
If you really want to clean the ink out of the head and everything, you need special cleaning fluid. Refill shops do have this fluid. You should bring some cleaning fluid in the tube under the black cartridge, in the tube where the ink is going in. If you have a syringe you could try to gently press some fluid through the tube. Not to strong. could damage the head.
After placing back the black cartridge, select clean the head and let the printer do some black and withe print jobs, till the cyan is gone.

Hp c6180 states cartridges missing or damaged

OK now this might seem bizarre, but did you go ahead and click the "Black Only" print option?

I have a C6180. Just installed all new cartridges. Tried to print and got the message that Cyan is empty. Tried all sorts of things. Then out of frustration clicked the Black Onl option. Document came out printed in color! Double checked with a picture that has lots of cyan colors. It all printed too! Go figure.

My c543dn insists that the cyan cartrige is missing but its not- any help here ?

These would be my recommendations, based on problems I've had with a similar printer:

1) Open the printer and pull the cyan cartridge back out.

2) Check the bottom of the cartridge to make sure there aren't any scraps of plastic or other material that might be preventing the printer from recognizing it.

3) Check inside the ink well (where the cartridge goes) to make sure nothing's stuck down in there that might be preventing the connection. Be careful and use a flashlight so that you don't accidentally break anything else (I've done that before).

4) If all of that is clear, re-insert the ink cartridge and push down (not too hard, but firmly) until it clicks into place.

5) If none of that works, the leads on the cartridge might have been damaged, or it might just be defective. You'll probably need a replacement toner cartridge at that point.

Hope that helps!

When I replace the cyan cartridge with a new one I keep getting the message"No Cartridge"

hi!!! in that kind of problem maybe the sensor of the cartridge was damage thats why the sensor cannot detect when you install the cartridge. Try another cartridge or maybe try the to re-install old one if the printer detect the old cartridge that means the new cartridge was defective. Thanks

I have a hp 7580 printer. Recently changed ink cartridges, almost immediately afterwards, i received an error code stating the printhead needed replacing. I changed the printhead as directed, rebooted to...

Normal 0 Could have a corrupt driver.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

Ink problems....

Take all carts out of the machine. Have a look into the cart holder. Is there ink swapping beneath the white plastic? (You might shake the machine ;-)

If yes, the cart holder leaks and needs replacement.

If not (your lucky!) it could be that the automatic cleaning procedure which starts when a cart is changed has soaked the carts empty.

Do set machine with date and time and NEVER unplug NOR use a power switch which breaks the power supply.

Do use constant power and switch off machine by pressing stand-by-fax-button!

Everytime when machine comes to (new) power contact it runs an extensive ink cleaning procedure. thats why your carts are always near empty....
The stand-by will prevent this and machine does some cleaning procedures which consumes only a few drops(!) of ink!

The display asks you if you have changed the carts. Do answer this question by pressing 1 for YES or 2 for NO.
This will reset the built-in inkcountermanagement to the correct settings
