S3 won't allow file transfer.

I just got a Samsung YP-S3 and just managed to install the driver.
But now it won't transfer the music files onto the mp3 player. I tried using WMP11, Samsung Media Studio and the old Drag and Drop method but it then says that the 'device is not functioning' and the "Do not disconnect during the transfer' appears on the player's screen. It also freezes on that screen so I have to reset it.
I'm operating on a Windows XP, SP2

Does it have to do with the fact it's an MTP?
Help is appreciated.

I have the same problem. The Samsung Media Suite software does not highlight the portable device icon (player) and therefore doesn't allow file transfer to the player. I have downloaded the updated Firmware from Samsung's site, but it still doesn't work! Any info appreciated.

The portable device option is not available. I believe this to be a malfunction in the usb cable or the software. I called the 800 num. and got the impression that there is an error in the device. I tried for hours to get this device to work. I am just going to return and go with a Sony brand MP3 device. I only got it because of the touch screen.

I just got a new Samsung 4GB S3JAB mp3 player from the company Samsung after a faulty T10 I had and it works great! Except for converting videos into SVIs...I have the Lame codec pack, the K-lite codec pack and all the others and it still doesn't work! It keeps saying 'pending...' and not doing anything about it! This is with the new Emodio program.

    Help please?

I have had my samsun YP-S3 for about 4 months and it was working quite fine and all. Bbut about 2 weeks ago I plugged it into my desktop and on the lower right hand corner a window popped up saying USB Device Not Recognized. I have searched all over the internet for solutions, downloaded many links for firmware and updates for windows media player and all that and still nothing. I even tried the solutions listed via this website but got nothing. So its either find a solution soon, or return it to the store lol.

SOLUTION FOUND!!! NO DRIVER PROBLEM ...Right click on my computer,go down to properties ..next window click the hardware tab, then click on device manager...right click and goto properties on ALL your "usb ports"...goto power management and uncheck the power saving box for every usb port, and click ok,then restart.!

I got the same thing - my computer would charge the device, but not recognize it to allow file transfer. it was the same for all USB ports. I tried using the USB cable from my old Samsung YP-T9, and it actually worked immediately. So it is not the device itself, but the USB cable, for some reason. I don't know how to solve the problem with the YP-S3 cable, though.

Hi there, regarding my problem with the S3 , the issue that I had was the device not being recognized after installing the software. I found out that the problem was me not having a high speed 2.0 USB port. Yes it says this inside the manual, I always check the sys. requirements on the package, and USB 2.0 was on the inside not the outside packaging. And the software the emodio and the media studio software is useless. You can just use WMP 10 or better.

Samsung yp s3,svi converter

Hi There

I can understand your issue. When you sy unable to transfer the videos to your samsung MP3 player, then the native file format would be .SVI format. So please go through this link and download the SVI setup and convert the file then transfer into your mp3 player. The link is :
http://sourceforge.net/projects/svicoder/files/jSVIcoder/jSVIcoder-0.8/jSVIcoder-0.8.0-setup.exe/download

Please revert for further clarifications..

Hi I have a YP-S3 mp3 player samsung, but I can't transfer files for my device. It should work with the program Emodio. I have the latest version.

the emodio software has MANY glitches. mine works when i un install and reinstall and then wait a day. sounds stupid but works. OR drag and drop music to it thru windows you can open device files and see items. if video you must convert then drag and drop. dont have unit plugged in and right click video in emodio and move to convert.

Samsung yp s3 doesnt work on xp

I have Windows XP and Media Player 10.

I had same problem with Samsung media studio not recognizing MP3 player. Here is how I fixed it. With the MP3 plugged in, I had to go into System/ Hardware/Device Manager and find the S3 driver under "Windows portable Media" and uninstall it. Then unplug and replug the S3 into the usb so that driver gets reinstalled.

Then I decided windows media player and samsung media studio are unnecessary for transferring music files to MP3 player.

Instead I go into Portable Media Devices from the control panel and just treat the MP3 player like a usb device. I copy folders of music and songs into the Music folder on the MP3. For me this is way easier than the Samsung music studio or Windows Media player.

I can ONLY listen to my music through the file manager

I do not fully get your problem. (Awkward Pause) Anyway, try to plug it in to your computer and find where the songs are located. If they are not in the music folder, put them there.
