Microsoft Excel can print bar-code labels. I did this for my office for our stock room and they work with every bar-code reader I've used so far.

Hi Mark, how do you find items in the excel by using the barcode scanner? i have an excel sheet with items. i made barcodes for the items, but now i want to search items by scanning with honeywell scanner!
a bar-code scanner is simply another input device that acts as a keyboard. To search through a database (or an excel spreadsheet) you would need to press ctrl+f to find, then scan your bar-coded item. I had only created the labels for my office to use using Excel. I got a template from the Internet and simply created the labels. I believe I got the templates from avery - the label maker.
Hello Mark, thanks for the information. I used an Add-In (Tbarcode panel) to make barcodes with code 39. to be honest I couldn't program the scanner (Honeywell voyager ms9520) I have only a quick start guide! I tried but it was hopeless :)
