Your owner's manual indicates to change the oil and replace the oil fitler on page 19 as part of the regular maintenance schedule. Whether or not your exact engine application does indeed have the filter is the engine manufacturer's option. Here is your manual.

Mine does not. I purchased it at Lowes. Asked Lowes for an oil filter and they sold me one, but I found there is not one on it, so I have to return the filter.

Troy Built Pony- will move in reverse but not forward.

There could be several reasons why a Troy Built Pony lawn tractor will move in reverse but not forward. One possible reason is a faulty transmission. The transmission is responsible for transferring power from the engine to the wheels, and if it is not functioning properly, the tractor may not move forward. Another possible reason is a broken or worn out drive belt. The drive belt connects the engine to the transmission and if it is damaged, the tractor may not move forward. Additionally, a damaged or worn out pulley can also cause the tractor to move in reverse but not forward.

To diagnose the issue, it is recommended to check the transmission fluid level and condition, inspect the drive belt for any damage or wear, and examine the pulleys for any signs of damage or wear. If any of these components are found to be faulty, they should be replaced immediately.

In conclusion, if a Troy Built Pony lawn tractor is moving in reverse but not forward, it could be due to a faulty transmission, a broken or worn out drive belt, or a damaged or worn out pulley. It is recommended to inspect these components and replace them as necessary.

Troy bilt pony riding mower

spray some carburetor cleaner in the intake and try to start it if it starts for a few seconds the carburetor is dirty and needs cleaned. put a new needle in it they are cheap and will solve your problem. take the spark plug out and try to start it. if it spins over freely and blows gas out the hole it is the needle in the carburetor. you may want to check the valves, they may be out of adjustment causing hard starting.

My troy built is several years old and recently the tires went flat. I know there is a transmission disconnect but the only manual I got with it was a Briggs and stratton motor guide. I never paid...

There is no actual transmission disconnect on the mower. If you put in neutral the belt would need to slip on the pulley in order for it to be pushed or roll freely. This usually doesn't happen.

My troy bilt horse has serial number 544253, can anyone tell me what the model number is and what year it was built? Thanks

if you have a B&S engine look at the frist two numbers on the code. thats the year of the engine and more likelyof your unit, As long as the motor has'nt been replaced. I'll checked on your serial number did'nt find a model. If this is an old troy built I'll have to call tech support. also I need to know what engine 4, 4.5, 6, 7, 8, hr power, and the name of the teller. MTD now owens troy built.
