The most common cause of this is bad convergence ICs. These are large black ICs attached to a heatsink. They should be marked STKxxx.
if your comfortable, Try resoldering the pins on these first. if not they will need to be replaced and found pretty easy on ebay and electronic stores.
Ok, what about picture tube quality..
is it good or seems abnormal sometimes..
blinking light means that system has detected some fault.
it can cause by some drysoldering in the board.
regards,
can u hear any sound in flyback at the time of running or when it shuts down.
sometimes the problem causes by the flyback, b'coz it has to do alot and special work there,
regards,
what about the condition of main filteration capacitor...
the jumpo capacitor at the main..
what about its physical condition..
does it look normal or spreaded at the top end..
another condition is caused by dropage of voltage too..
regards,
deterioration, in sense of what.. do u mena that picture tube fickers a little bit with some different type of color or something..
regards,
dear,
one more thing to share is, have you do the inside cleaning/dedust of your set. with blower..
if not and u feel dust on it then u have to clean it ..
i think do it even u dont feel much dust.
its better....
regards,
dear,
sometimes as i observed the tv or any electronic having these kind of criticality has to dedust...
as all these comments u had got alot of ideas that u can share to theh technician so he may not charged alot.

The tv has an internal safety switch that turn tv off when there is a short, overheating or overvoltage. This is often caused by a bad capacitor, bad cold joint or faulty IC.
Try first unplugging tv from power cable for 15 minutes or so, so to reset it, sometimes this fix the problem.
If this did not work, to find the cause of the problem you need to have a technician testing components inside tv.
You find the phone number for repair service printed on last pages of tv owner manual, also check your guaranty terms.
Well it is not necessarily the power supply, if TV is not returning any error code is useless trying to guess, part and components need testing when it is like this.

Well you need somebody using a multimeter on a tv board, your tv is not returning any specific error code, therefore only way out is having a technician with his hands on your tv.

It must be your tv was heated on long usage.
sir, try to go to your nearest expert technician. they have tools to use on fixing your tv's hardware. or see if your tv has a warranty to send it back to the place what youve bought it. hope that helps!

Usually answered in minutes!
the tv was turned off after only 3 hours of use, adn i have had it on for much longer than that in the past....so i dont feel it was a overheating issue...but thank you for the thought
the power supply is screwed directly into the wall so my cats and dogs wont knocked it out of the plug....but i did unscrew it and re screw it in, just in case....still not working though
i dont see any bulging.....
the picture quality is fantastic! well was fantastic when i had a picture...no graining or hazig or blurring, great picture!
i thought the picture tube starts to show some deterioration before it goes out?
does anyone else out there have any other suggestions?
i just unplugged it for 30 mins...the red light is still blinking.....its just so weird, thursday night it was fine, no issues, i turned it off just like normal. friday i had my floors cleaned adn now this....the tv is wall mounted, the plug is screwed in to the wall and i know my av rack was not moved when the floors were cleaned because there is still dust on my stuff...the floor person knows not to go near my entertainment rack....so im totally baffled!
so what I am gathering is that I am pretty much stuck...I need to have a tech come out and open it up....
thank you everyone for the advice, but it turns out---so far from what the repair tech said-its the SEIN board? we shall see when the part gets here Tuesday...
