SOURCE: Sony Vaio VGN-NR498E recovery disk

Hello

Well, the recovery disks won't allow you to go to your present system. The recovery disks are designed to put everything back the way it was when you bought the computer, minus all your applications and data. If it's your data that you need then a reputable repair service like mine can slave your hard drive to another system and recover all your data (not applications), provided the hard drive has not electronically or mechanically malfunctioned. Again, a reputable repair person can tell you the status of the hard drive.

Ok so my sony viao vgn nr120e caught a virus. I finally ordered the recovery cds but my cd drive no longer works. I really do not want to replace the cd drive. Is there anyway to bypass the recovery cds...

Buy a 4GB (or larger) USB memory-stick.
Connect it to a different computer.
Copy all the files from the recovery-CDs onto the USB memory-stick.
Move the memory-stick to your computer, and try to install from the files on the USB memory-stick.

Hi,
I think your laptop is now really messed up and you will need to restore to factoy settings.
I hope you created the Recovery CD/DVD set with the Recovery Wizard when you
first set up your computer, you can restore to factory default settings by
setting up your BIOS (press F2 at the VAIO logo when you first start up) to
boot to the CD-ROM/DVD drive first. Then boot with the Recovery Startup CD.
Choose the option to perform a complete recovery

Follow the prompts to insert the various Recovery CDs/DVDs as needed.
As this action will format the drives again, I hope you have made a backup of your data.

If you failed to create the Recovery CD/DVD set you need to
purchase a proper recovery set from Sony.

In that case, you may perform C: Drive Restore using the Recovery Partition. You may access the Recovery Partition by restarting the Computer and tapping the F10 key for 10 to 15 seconds. Please select the "Restore C: Drive" in the VAIO Recovery Center.
