How it's supposed to work is to get a program that recognizes the camera, then the tape can be captures. Windows Movie Maker never supported it. In fact Microsoft doesn't even support it anymore. They have recommended using Pinncale Studio to work with DV cameras.

Once you install Studio, put the tape in, turn the camera on, Studio will load up.

Hi, I have a JVC GR-D750AA digital video camera. I do not know how to download the things recorded to my PC. I have also bought the USB cable n tried but the camera USB port is not recogned by the PC. I do...

Turn the power switch on your camcorder to "Off." Connect the USB cable that came with the camcorder to the USB port on the camcorder. If you are using the DV cable, connect one end of the cable to the computer first. Put the other end of the USB cable into the USB port on your computer. If you are using the DV cable, connect it to the camcorder. Power on your camcorder. Wait while your computer recognizes the attached JVC GR-D270U camcorder. Typically you will get a pop-up on your screen asking how you want to proceed once the camcorder has been recognized. Open your video editing software, such as Adobe Premiere, Roxie, iMovie or Windows Movie Maker. Import, or capture, the video from the camcorder to your computer using the video editing software. For example, in iMovie you click on "File," then "Import from Camera" to download the movie from your camcorder to the computer.

Can't connect to computer

Hi, You need to first capture the video using Windows Movie Maker.
Then the movie maker will let you burn it to a DVD/ CD

I have jvc GR d720 dv camcorder but unable to connect .. driver required ... i have firewire send me in [email protected]

No driver required for Windows XP. I simply plugged in the camera via FireWire. Windows automatically recognizes it as a digital video device. Then I started up Windows Movie Maker and followed the wizard to capture the movie from my digital video device. It was really easy.

My computer no longer recognizes my JVC GR-D70U mini DV cam when I plug it into a usb port.

Hi, I am not sure. But I believe the camcorder has to be on when you connect to the computer. and I assume you use firewire for this particular camcorder.
I too once had this problem when I used Windows Vista. If you too use Vista, try it with Windows XP.

cheers,

I'm pretty sure you can. It should record about an hour on MPEG4 format.

Make sure Vista is updated, plug in the firewire on the computer side first then to the camera. Movie maker should start right up!

Use firewire cable to coonect to a computer. Transfer the movie from camcorder to the computer (for example using Microsoft Movie Maker - included in Windows XP). Then you can edit it in Movie Maker and save the final movie on the hard disk, DVD or back on DV cassette.
