Loud buzzing noise and both lights on the bottom are on.

Is the buzzing coming from the compressor, or from the switch itself?

My upright freezer is not kicking on ...

There's a current relay starting circuit on top of the compressor. There's also a run capacitor nearby. I assume you have a meter (you said you tested the compressor). Either component malfunction will prevent operation, but if you hear a clicking noise at the compressor, then most likely the whole assembly (plastic box with relay and fuse) where the wires attach to the compressor has to be replaced. It runs less than $50. Buy it online from the manufacturer's parts house, This is a common problem with domestic refrigerators and freezers.

My bottom freezer amana refrigerator is making a clicking noise. And my freezer is barely cold.

Refrigerator making clicking noise compressor not running.

The clicking could be the start relay. If the start relay is bad, the compressor will not start and you will hear a clicking noise in 2-5 minute intervals. The clicking noise is the overload cutting the compressor off when it overheats from trying to start with a bad start relay. To find out if this is bad first unplug the refrigerator. Remove the lower cover from your refrigerator. Then take the cover off that is on the side of the compressor, you will see wires going to this. Now you should be able to see the start relay plugged on to the side of the compressor and unplug it. Now the best way to tell if it's bad is to shake it. If it rattles, it's bad and needs to be replaced. If not, most of the time it's ok. But rather than saying the compressors bad, you might want to replace it anyways because it does not cost much. A quick check on the compressor is to remove the start relay. You will see 3 pins connect a multi meter set for continuity. You should have continuity between any of the 3 pins. If you do not the compressor is bad. Also check from each pin to a good ground on the cabinet. There should be no continuity if there is the compressor is bad. If you replace it and it doesn't work then the compressor is bad and you'll need to call a repairman. (Note that compressors are very costly and are normally not worth fixing). You can enter your model # at Refrigerator clicking for diagrams and illustrations or to purchase a start relay. A 3 in 1 start relay will also work fine.

Mccall FS10-E freezer has been sitting unplugged for two years and now won't cool (I believe it worked before but not 100% sure). When plugged in, there is a constant buzzing from the fan motor. ...

Here are a few thoughts.

Possible a very small freon leak. A low level of freon will cause a "No Cooling" situation.
There is a small possibility that since it sat for so long, that the rings on the compressor may not be sealing properly and the compressor is now "Weak" and does not have the capacity it needs to do the job.
Buzzing from what fan motor? Evap or condenser? If the motor buzzes but runs in the correct direction (rotation) and at the correct RPM. I would not be too concerned about the noise at this time.
I'd start with these items before going any farther.
Let me know if I can be of any further help.

Freezer making clicking noise

Hi,

Many times a freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many other things that can go wrong.

If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing then check out the last two tips.

The fridge/freezer is making buzzing noises that go on for 10/15 seconds every 5 minutes or so. Both fridge and freezer have heated up to 49 and 26 degrees through the night. Help!

ur compressor is trying to start but the safety is turning it off may have a bad compressor but try this first might get it working again -(safety click sound) disconnects power when compressor gets to hot or is drawing to many amps--stuck--comp gets hot unplug unit and clean with a vacuum carefully under where comp and fan are this is the condenser area after cleaning or 1 hr plug in and check for start and that condenser fan is working may be reason for overheating-if still not working compressor needs service

Whirlpool upright freezer making buzzing noise and not working

I had a similar problem yesterday. I woke up and the freezer was not working anymore. It would make a buzzing noise and then it would click and shut off. I looked online for some possible solutions. Here is what I did:
I unplugged the fridge. I pulled it out and took off the cardboard backing. I used an air compressor to blow out all of the dust and dirt that had accumulated on the condenser coils. A shop-vac just wasn't powerful enough to pull out all of the dust/dirt. After that, I plugged it back in....and the same thing was happening. It would buzz, and then it would click off. I figured out that the "click" was coming from a starter relay (a small plastic piece attached to the big black compressor). I detached the plug from the relay and then detached the relay from the compressor. The relay was burned out. It turns out this is a common problem with the relay. I replaced the relay for $50 (from an appliance parts store) and put the whole thing back together in about 10 minutes.
I plugged the fridge back in and the compressor started, and now the freezer works better than other. I saved about $400 doing it myself, all in about one hour. And better yet, my wife was very impressed. Not bad for a doctor.

Buzzing noise -Kyoto KU 9577 Freezer

you may have a bad compressor or a bad compressor relay. The buzzing noise sounds like the compressor trying to start but can't. Unplug the unit and pull the relay off the compressor. If it rattles like gravel in side it replace the relay. If it doesn't then you may need to call a repairman to check the compressor. Hope this helps.
