I have a WD160AAJS which I put into an exterior eSATA bay. (Sharkoon product which works smoothly with other HDs.) My computer (a Windows7Prof 64 i7 laptop) doesn't recognise it. The Intel Rapid Storage Technology app sees and lists it but Explorer doesn't.
the problem is with compatibility with Quickport combo ,cache of this is upto 8mb while that of WD disk is 64mb power is not sufficient to handle it so try a quickport pro

If it doesn't start at all, check motherboard for a short by unplugging the processor power cable (4 pin normally), and turn the computer on. If the fans start rotating, it is probably a short. If that isn't the problem, check for cables that should be connected, and test the processor in another computer. Hope it works (it did for me)
